Sounds a bit strange to me with magnetic shells.
I could understand magnetic or metallic core peas. Then you could use a small M on your finger tip to handle tings. Saw the video though and realise that there are some things you can do that won't work otherwise |

Yes, I saw that, but before I would think of purchasing a set, I would want to know all you can do with standard shells is possible

Hi All
I’m thinking of purchasing the Shell Game and want to know which is the best one to get. I also saw the magnetised version advertised and I’m wondering is the standard version just as good. Any opinions on this? Best regards Pirate Pete

Pirate Pete the best shells to get in my opinion are from www.3shells.com . The "Top Shelf Shell" is the sites signature shell. However you should at least have a plastic set and a metal set. The weight of the metal helps with the moves but will make noise on hard surfaces. This mainly applies to shells that are not gimmicked. Gimmicked shells can just be plastic because metal doesn't make a big enough difference on the moves to risk noise on hard surfaces.
My opinion is you should NOT use gimmicked shells. Most shells on the market are gimmicked, even though they don't advertise it. The 3shell.com shells are not gimmicked and fair. And when you buy from there you get instructions that you can't find else where. There are a lot of choices to determine which shell set is best to get. It depends on the performance surface, pea type, if they can be inspected and used by other people without the pea coming out, and if you want them gimmicked or not. There are several types of gimmicks to chose from too. I would get the shell game boot camp from the original creators site http://povmagician.com/product/bobs-3-shell-boot-camp/ . It comes with bottle caps and peas. Try a close up mat and a hard surface with the caps. Learning with the bottle caps will also show you that you don't need the gimmicks. If you need more info then get the School for Scoundrels series on shell game. https://www.popsmagic.com/store/p62/Intr......deo.html https://www.popsmagic.com/store/p63/Scou......deo.html |

This should be required before ever attempting the shell game. Glenn Morphew is one of the best teachers in the magic community. I also have the School for Scoundrels set of street shells as well as their dvds and book. Although I like the looks of the sets sold at https://www.3shells.com/ they seem to differ a bit in how they are used. I prefer Leo Smetsers sets (I have the workers set which are three mini hard hats in a lunch bucket and his recently released “Totally Nuts” that comes with a set of “locknuts” as shells and is perfect in the theme of the full set from “Totally Nuts” his full shell game tutorial is included). However, all that said, my very favorite routine of all has to be Phil Cass’s routine (followed by Bob Sheets’s “Dung Beatle” shell routine)
