Thanks, Jim, for the suggestion about Boston Massacre. I'm a fan of Mike Powers' work. So far I found a not very good video of a performance, and I don't think it did the trick justice. I'll keep looking. I don't have a Boston Box, though I've heard of them. They do something sneaky, I'll bet.

I wonder if you have published this trick, or at least have kept your notes on it. I'm definitely interested in learning it if it doesn't use gaffs. (Extra coins are fine.)

I could be wrong but if you want to show four coins clearly, and have three move right away, a m..g ic three coin gaff is what I would go with if you want it to be fast and clean. that would let you do this cleanly, and ditch the gaffs too.

Thanks, countrymaven. That's worth thinking about. Mike Powers has a routine that uses that gaff; I don't remember if it does what I want, but it might be a good starting point.
