I recently bought a P&A mismade flag from a respected member here on the Café.
It came with instructions complete with staple haha.
My concern lies in that there is no p&a insignia anywhere. I have a few 36" silks that say p&a white in the left corner.
Does anyone have any insight? Was it left off mismade, smaller silks etc? How would one verify? It seems to be top notch.

The only thing I can tell you is that P&A silks were very thick weave. As I recall a professional magician here in town ordered replacements, and there was not marking on the silks if they are one color and not silks with a design on them. There silks can take the constant knot tying. If you hold them up to sunlight and you cannot see through them, then they are most likely P&A.

Same with Rice unique Studio's silks, if just a plan color, then no logo, but if they were the silk screen designs, they have the logo.

Thanks for the reply! They are certainly thick weave and high quality. No markings on any flag, but surely a keeper.

Well you have the instructions, and if they say P&A, then the silks should be. How you can verify, you can't. you can try contacting Cynthia White, but I do not see how that would help you.

From what I read, here on the Café, Peter White contacted Lyme disease twice. There is no recovery from Lyme disease.

Only his wife may know, the below address is from the "in memory of" website.
You have to write a letter.

I assume they are genuine. Instructions, heavy, beautiful and well made.
Thank you for following up.

Peter's silks were all made on 8 momme silk. He told me it was not worth the time to do lighter momme as they do not hold as well for the work involved. I sure miss him.

I still have my P&A Mismade sets -- large and medium -- with variations of HOW they were mismade. None of them have any indicia on them. Heavy enough to use regularly -- and without stripes, without stars, stars and stripes misplace -- and full size regular flag great for a climax. Peter was wise as he designed several variations of mismades so the routine would be different than anyone else's -- or as I sometimes used them -- to mismake several different ways before getting the stars and stripes right.

Peter was a wonderful inventor and preoducer of silks that could be used without fear or fragility. Sometimes slow to deliver -- I remember Billy McComb tellong me that he had been waiting for Peter to to do new silks for his parasol -- for two years at the time -- and because of quality was willong to wait.

For those dedicated to silk work as an act, not just an occasional routine or prop, Richard Hughes (above) and the late Peter White had been my best suppliers while I was actively able to travel and perform.
