Don't know any current ones, Magicfish ... but Mastermindreader (the late Bob Cassidy) was a fine fiddle player.

Shame. I had a good relationship with Bob online. I miss him.
I love his books.

The other day I watched Fiddler On The Roof.
If there is a single truth about Magic, it is that nothing on earth so efficiently evades it.

I suppose the bridge is a slightly different shape. Other than that, exactly the same as far as the instrument goes.

Say that in Branson. It is about how it is played. Tell a concert violinist they are playing a fiddle. They will not be happy.

Plus I said it as more of a joke than anything.

The difference in a fiddle and a violin is you don't spill beer on your violin.

Yes. My grandfather was a fiddle champ. I was referring to the instruments in response to your previous post.

There are subtle cosmetic differences in they way you set up the instrument to accomplish some of the runs associated with "fiddle" playing. Maybe subtle difference in strings used.

Essentially it is a stylistic difference and little more.

The amusing part is I have a friend in Branson who just might not believe you if you were to tell him they were the same instrument!

Like I said the bridge can be a slightly different shape to facilitate bowing single strings for violin.

To do so would be a senseless act of violin-ce.

Hey Magicfish … I admire your courage to take on the fiddle/violin! Takes a lot of determination and self-discipline.

Here’s another fabulous contemporary virtouso:

. . . and here’s the late great jazz violinist, Stephane Grappelli:
