Hey everyone, I've been involved with magic and mentalism for years now. But for whatever reason, I never really saw or read anything about Fast and Loose(save for one Penguin Lecture, but I forget who's). I'd really like to learn more about it, but haven't a clue where to start.
Hopefully this isn't a redundant post. I didn't see anything by browsing the subjects in the first few pages.
Any information is sincerely appreciated!

If you look up School for Scoundrels Pop Haydn and Chef Anton have did a thorough job of writing this up and rebranding the scam. However if you have time to research you will find info on it in Magic Digest by GeorgeB Anderson page 87 called Australian Belt. Magic as a hobby by Bruce Elliot page page 70 called on the Barrelhead credited L. Vosburgh Lyons. Numerous other sources are available but the School for Scoundrels is the best source for chain and info.

I used to do this in a Restaurant setting. I was afraid of offending parents having children gamble so I presented it like this. If they win I would give them a note allowing them to miss school and a bottle of their favorite soda. But if they lost they would have to do a chore for their parents. Always got laughs from parents. Then I would follow up with "It's a win win situation a day off from school or do something nice for your parents." Then I let the children take turns till everyone has a chance. Then its followed up by double or nothing no chore. I tried to end before they end up with more than 2 chores and invite them back next week for a rematch. Original to me.

Thank you so much for that valuable information, and for sharing your original routine. That is really VERY clever, and I like it a lot!

I'll be looking up the sources you mentioned.
I'm excited to learn something new.
Thanks again!

New twist on a devilish classic from scam school on YouTube
I had done this for years and found this very informative.

I have to say, idk if fast & lose is something I’d ever put in my act but it sure looks like something I’d like to learn for fun to mess with friends and family

I have done the Marc DeSouza "Chain Gang" version for years. I can't remember if I sold my old set, lost it or gave it away a few years back. But, as luck would have it, about a year or so ago VI or Magic Warehouse (IIRC) had it on sale for $10 (dvd and chain) so I got a new one (and it seems to be out of stock and discontinued everywhere I have looked unless Marc still has some for lecturing).

This finally led to my wanting a way better set, so I just ordered the SFS gold chain as well as their "Fast and Loose" download plus eBook (along with a shotglass and some magnetic peas for my SFS Street Shells).

There is also a decent looking set sold by Mymagic by Gene Maze, Meir Yedid and Harry Lorayne called "Catch Me and Win" (however it looks like it uses the same chain as the "Chain Gang used".

In my opinion, the SFS is the one to go with. Here is a link for all the bundles, singles and sales for Fast and Loose:
http://scoundrelsstore.com/product-category/fast-loose/ I got the chain there and the download + the eBook here https://www.popsmagic.com/store/p59/Fast......PDF.html (I love their books on 3 card monte and fast and loose, they have a rich history and are great reading, would love to see a "Notes on the 3 Shell Game" one day), they do have a great deal in the sale section of the first link if you buy it all at once. Unfortunately, I got the video first then got the chain but still I got a great deal.

the "Catch Me and Win" is https://www.mymagic.com/p/gaming-cheatin......ene-maze there s a $75 set and a $90 set. You can read about the difference, it boils down to, they have a few "original wooden sets" left for $90 and the others are a tad smaller and not wood. If you look at the chain, it is the same pattern as "Chain Gang" provided but if you compare it to the SFS Fast and Loose chain pattern, it is night and day.

I'm gonna grab the WGM version of this next time L&Lepub has a 60% off sale. It can probably be picked up for $6 as a download.

There is a whole chapter on this and other "cons presented as magic" in Lewis Ganson's ART OF CLOSE-UP MAGIC, volume 1.

If I remember correctly, there are more such items in Karl Fulves' BIG BOOK OF MAGIC TRICKS, a Dover publication available at any chain bookstore.
