I am a huge fan of Criss Angel. I was watching some video clips on his website, and he levitated a random person on the street. I am almost 100% sure it was a stooge. Is there anywhere I can learn this?

Didn't see it, but it's probably a stooge, wires, and some really geeky film editor.

your magic is only real when you believe it's real.

These were all his helpers/stooges, I am sure. Remember, she knew to put her hands on her chest and cross her ankles, as well as make herself rigid.

Where was this video shot? I was at Universal when he was filming there for the Halloween Special. Was it there? Where can I see this?

That's a very impressive video.

I guess for myself, I would hesitate to perform such a , let us say arranged , illusion , giving out the impression that I could do such things spontaneously on the street , surrounded by gaping spectators , because what do you do when you're in a group like that and they say : "hey, man, do that thing we saw you do on your TV special" . If you have to beg off then it looks bad .

I think doing these sorts of stunts one runs the risk of becoming a mere "TV magician" , dependent on editing tricks and stooges . Not my cup of tea, but Criss Angel is certainly a dynamic performer and perhaps for him it's worth the risk .

I only liked a few of his effects. the wall walking was stupid, but I loved the coin in arm, and cap in bottle. I am not a big fan of the character he protrays, but I respect anyone who shows a genuine interest, and love for magic.
The great trouble with magicians is the fact that they believe when they have bought a certain trick or piece of apparatus, and know the method or procedure, that they are full-fledged mystifiers. -- Harry Houdini

When you think about it, how is having a "stooge" worse than using traps doors, mirrors, and thick bases?
It's just another method...if it pleases the audience, more power to him.
...but if your using a stooge AND a camera trick...you might be pushing it Smile

Is levitation the greatest magic trick ever? Seems like there is a big hoo-haa going on for it. Someone enlighten me pls.

In most effects appearances, disappearances, vanishes restorations, morphs, and penetrations the magic happens in a split second . However in suspensions, levitations and animations the magic is constantly happening over a significant period of time.

I heard that usually levitations succeed in like 1 every 5 because the angles are very difficult to get it right. Is that true?

I don't really like chris angel. He uses too much camera editing tricks. I did like that coin in the arm trick though. but it was pretty gross.
