Title says it all. What are great, hard hitting closers that don't require much/any pocket space (i.e. no chop cup load, splash bottle, etc.).
I'll go first: extreme burn, ninja rings, Paul Green's Odds are with Me. |

I'm going to echo Danny on card stuff.
I carry a inner breast pocket wallet for a card to envelope. But that wallet also contains Volition, Extreme Burn and the Card Version of the insurance policy. So I'm thankful to have a complete set in just this wallet which bringing out the wallet once for Volition then placing it back in justifies my card to wallet when I mention the "white paper" inside. BRILLIANT WALLET. my other two closers for alternate card sets are: Torn and Restored Transpo (I keep my dupes in my front chest pocket Omni Deck, left outer jacket pocket. I'm not sure what you wear to your gigs, so you could have significantly less pocket space than myself. Good luck! |

OK I guess I should have asked is this for a real world serious question or is it a hypothetical what if scenario?

I imagine if Alyx is concerned with pocket space, it's probably a real world question. I like to think only workers are concerned with pocket space.

Hey there, me again. Yes, this post was indeed intended to garner real-world, worker responses.
Not that the responses need to be tailored to me specifically, though. But if you're asking. ;-) My experience is in busking with looser clothing restraints and even pouches as well as a parlor show working out of a case. Now, I'm wanting to get into the strolling/table-hopping business, and pocket space is... non-existent. I wear tight dress pants and a shirt with no pockets. I've settled on two leather deck cases worn on a belt, a slim leather wallet clipped to my belt, a jumbo coin in my belt/waistline, and a silver dollar in my front pocket. I'm contemplating picking up a slim Mullica wallet, hoping it won't arouse suspicion as a man's wallet. I'm not surprised that you both mentioned card to wallet, and I've been wanting to do this for a long time. The idea of a "set in a wallet" is so appealing to me, SleightlyChris. TRT is so awesome. I'll never forget being sleighed by that about ten years ago. Wish I had more space for duplicates. |

You can take the principal of the card to wallet and adapt it to your own possessions.
Heck a Mullica wallet in this day and age arouses suspicion in and of itself simply because nobody uses a check book. (I happen to like that as it is something I point out, but it is a "thing".) Cards Across when presented well is an effect that you can easily walk away with. It can be done with no extra props and if you sell it to the audience right it is REALLY a cool effect. Can be done in so may ways, and even done with signed cards if you do it right depending upon your skill level. I have a lot of pocket space, and I simply never use it. I don't do things that require reset, and I don't do things that need duplicates. NOTHING is wrong with those things, it is just the environments I learned in those things were fairly detrimental. I always just learned to use the things I had and apply skill. You may not think of it this way but having limited pocket space is going to help to drive creativity for you.

Borrowed ring and string routine. Ringflite.
Multiple card selection. "Stranger card" effects such as Airmail Card (Swain), Deja Vu (Andrews), Party Animal (Guastaferro), Reminiscence (Harkey). Borrow a $1 bill, fold it, unfold to reveal $2 bill- let them keep it as a forever-changed object/gift. |

Alyx,
Just use a nice Clutch Bag, it would be the perfect close-up bag for you. No one can tell you or suggest the magic you should perform, what kind of magic you would have fun performing. Only you have that answer. You have to do your own shopping. I bought all the early Paul Harris books, because he made his magic simple, funny, and entertaining. It was good card magic that I could easily do. Do you subscribe the the free Vanish Magic magazine? Why not, it will introduce you to the world of what is being offered to the magic community. Here is a great trick called the Tamariz Rabbits, great for children and adults. https://www.stevensmagic.com/shop/tamari......-brooke/ |

Rick Lax has an effect out called "Contact". EXCELLENT Closer. Big Punch, it leaves them with your contact #, and it's only 1 card.

Cards Across. WONDERFUL if done well.
3 Cards to pocket by Michael Ammar, GREAT closer. Ambidextrous Travelers by Tom Stone (you can find it in his book Vortex) Very difficult, but awesome effect. and Out of this world, if presented well, could be an amazing effect with an amazing climax that brings your routine to full conclusion. Just my 2 cents Cristobal |

I'm loving reading all these ideas! AndyMo805, I'm intrigued by this Rick Lax idea. I stayed away from gimmicks for a long time, but I like the potential of this.
I wanted to contribute another one, myself. Heinstein's Dream with the in the hand presentation. |

So I do use gimmicks. 90% of my business is Wedding Receptions, and I can repeat "Contact" a dozen times while strolling and the impact is incredible. I will also use it at Bridal Trade Shows where I have 2 - 300 brides coming by my booth. They all walk away with a card that stands out from the rest... and my call rate after a show is huge! |

Andy, this is awesome advice! I've casually considered that I should attend bridal trade shows, but the way you're talking makes me think I need to be doing this! I mocked up the idea of Contact last night and played with handling. I came away thinking that maybe it wasn't right, but again, the way you're talking is very compelling. Thank you so very much for weighing in. This sounds like gold. Again I so appreciate your generosity in sharing these ideas.

I have set up Gypsy Thread on my business card. There are two little cuts in the card to hold the thread.
My patter line has to do with a string of bad luck (and I happen to have one with me) which ends in a thread of hope. I wrap the thread of hope around the business card and leave it with the spectator. You can keep them in a packet trick type folder wallet. -Mary Mowder |

I sometimes carry a small black leather purse when table hopping (about 8"x 3.5" x 6" with a Dr. bag opening on top) . It will hold Ninjas, Ring and rope and even a contact juggling ball as well as @ 20 other smaller tricks. It makes me feel secure but it is more than I need.
If you are strolling you need some pockets. I wear a vest that has pockets. I do Tokyo Penetration in every Close-Up gig. Clean Thru, Clear Thru is a version that is available now. Ring and ribbon or Ring and Rope are great strolling magic. A regular deck with interactive tricks and a few flourishes will go a long way. -Mary Mowder |

By the way, I'm not really sure what is meant by non-Malini style.
