Juan Tamariz once said that if he had to take one book to an island for the rest of his life it would be The complete course in magic by Tarbell.

Which would you pick?

Mine would be The books of wonders by Tommy Wonder.

It can be literally any book and sets of books count as one (like Tommy Wonders books)

I'm assuming you mean magic books?

In that case, I would take Super Subtle Card Miracles by Frank Garcia. (Probably my most worn-out book).

I would take Greater Magic. A treasure trove of magic. Wonder if I could do the three shell game with coconuts?

I mean any book, (related to magic)
for example could be a book on acting or psychology (both correlate to magic)

Interesting...over the decades literally thousands have told me/posted that they'd take my APOCALYPSE volumes, and many other of my books to an island, etc. None have posted here. Guess they're still on islands.

It is probable... or maybe...
...maybe they were abducted by aliens...

Perhaps. Clever. Those aliens are doing great impromptu card magic now - they'd fool the h+ll out of you.

I’d probably go for The Art of Astonishment books.

I'm starting to lean towards Harry's suggestion about he Apocalypse books. Each volume has hundreds of tricks and they range from rubber bands to cards to coins, etc. If you wanted to actually practice and perform the tricks therein, you'd have to have some basic supplies, cards, coins, etc.

That is a pretty good suggestion. But then I got to thinking about his Classic Collection series...tempting but I would probably still go with Apocalypse because of the variety of contributors. Honorable suggestion also goes to his Best of Friends volumes.

If I had to limit it to only one physical book, that is hard but probably Greater Magic due to the wealth of material.

Harry, the original question was which one book would you pick if you were stranded on an island for the rest of your life.

Just curious: Which one book would YOU pick?

On a side note, Harry, I’ve been a longtime fan of both your magic and memory material but recently started getting into your math stuff as well. After watching Sal Piacente’s Penguin Live lecture where he does amazing memory and math feats it made me more interested In studying your books on math. I am just now starting Mathematical Wizardry in CC5 and really looking forward to learning some of the calculations.

Can't say, Arthur - because if I do, the authors of those I don't mention will yell "What am I, chopped liver?"! I learned that decades ago when I was publishing APOCALYPSE - learned not to plug a specific book because I'd make that author happy, but others mad.

Oh, and Piacente learned a lot when he'd lean over my shoulder whenever I was performing (which was often) every Saturday when the "boys" would meet at the Caféteria after Tannens closed.

Tough, really tough, to nail it down to one.
But I would bring the Apocalypse volumes, Special Effects, JawDroppers, JawDroppers Two, And Finally!
