Hello Everyone,
I've been a member here for a long time, but never posted an introduction. I worked at a magic shop for over a year and in the past went to the Largo Magic Club. I met Michael Ammar, Bob Sheets, and Docc Hilford. I also saw David Copperfield Live. Anyone else here around the Tampa area. I'm about 1 hour North of Tampa. |

Hello NoahMaximus,
Welcome to the Magic Café forum. Working in a magic shop would be really fun. |

Yes, TomB it was fun to learn new tricks all day during the slow times and get paid to do so.
The other main benefit was it helped filter out what tricks/gimmicks to stay away from (we all have been burned on the "Straight to the trash bin" types....so there was that perk too. A good money saver for sure. lol |

Welcome NoahMaximus,
My partner Tom worked in a Magic Shop for a while and he echoed your sentiments. I've always envied him for that experience. -Mary Mowder |

Hi Mary,
I have my own job, but if a local magic shop opened up around here again, I'd offer to work there 1 day a week just for fun. I'm just glad technology makes it a lot easier to not get burnt. Back when I started out in magic, it was flyers with descriptions of tricks and you had to gamble on which ones were any good or not. At least now you can watch a demo online 99% of the time. |

Shaky cam, distracting music and editing notwithstanding. LOL
Tom and his friend/boss used to laugh at the old flyers. "You can even hand it out If you want." ("If you want" really meaning, if you want to give away the secret.) -Mary |

When it comes to editing demos, there is one company that comes to mind that is a newer one, and I won't buy anything from them.
Not going to say their brand, but I'm sure about everyone that reads this will know who I'm talking about. Just like back in the day there was a notorious coin gaff comapny that was the bottom of the barrell and everyone knew to stay away from their coins ....glad to see they went away. ha ha |

Hi Noah,
I’m seldom in here, but I jumped in to say hi, welcome you and to ask Mary why she didn’t come to see my show during the Halloween season in Folsom? Docc |
