I decided to go with penguin because I assumed they would add the tutorial to my account. But I think it’s a physical copy of a dvd and there may not be tutorial as an option. But as soon as I receive it I will be here to give my thoughts. Should be here this week

Ok............... I was able to get the download through a helpful penguin member. ( Erik ) I’ll try and be as honest as possible without exposure. So here are my initial thoughts.
I personally feel that there was a lot of opportunities missed in the tutorial. He covered quite a bit within the 33 minutes video. But...... there are still things I feel as a customer that should be on there. ( I’ll get back to those in a bit ) The gimmick you receive is pretty much what I and others assumed it to be. But custom built. It comes skin colored and has the the ability to re**** any au*** file you choose. However the one thing that concerned me from the beginning of the tutorial was addressed at the very end of it. The sound. It does not have a volume adjustment option. However, he does cover this area with helpful ideas on how to control the sound by distance when re*******. He also goes over how to replace batteries and where to get them. ( these should be very easy to get ) I don’t have the gimmick in hand yet, so my I’ll hold my opinion on that until I receive mine later this week. Handling the gimmick- there really wasn’t a ton of different ways described within the video. Although with some creative thinking, you will have no issues coming up with additional handlings that might suit you if the ones he covered don’t. This is one of the areas that I thought could have been improved. He mentions ( and shows ) a P*ll that can be used in one of the handlings bit never really goes into detail of how to attach it. Not is it covered that you could use the p*ll in other places other than the sleeves. Even though I am very familiar with p*lls and have had plenty of time to play around with different locations for it, others not as familiar as I am may have some trouble figuring out how to establish the designated area to attach it. It’s not super important, but I felt that it could have been better explained. As for the handling of the gimmick, I think it’s workable and people will come up with their own ideas on placing and handling the gimmick. The set up- Not a whole bunch to cover here. It’s very basic and if you’ve ever done the phone cup as a kid it’s pretty straight forward. He supplies you with the string, gimmick and sticky dots that’s needed for a specific handling. Very simple to put together within a couple of minutes. Now, if you choose to change cups, you’ll need to do the set up all over again. Explanation- It feels rushed and the editing could use some improvements for sure. When you watch it you’ll know what I mean. That in no way takes away that this could be a keeper for a lot of performers. Earlier I said that he covered quite a bit within the video, but it feels like the information was squeezed together. I believe this to be due to the editing. Not a deal break in my opinion. But could use some improvement. Throughout the explanation I kept wondering if this was something that would be problematic due to the missing volume Option. Which happens to be explained at the end of the tutorial. I felt that it should have been placed with the recording explanation because the entire video I was thinking “ what about the sound “. Again, not a deal breaker. Just caused me to have to go back in the video. I personally feel that he explains it well enough to understand each and every area of the gimmick and didn’t leave me thinking how it worked. One more thing I want to address is the sound. I will not commit to saying that you cannot perform this surrounded. Idk because I haven't gotten my gimmick yet. But I imagine that if you’re not careful about your recording, others may hear it. But I’ll hold off on this opinion until I receive mine. But all and all, I’m content with this area. Forcing- This is pretty interesting because he does cover one force in detail with forcing a card. You can use any force that you can think of. And you only need just a few moments to set up a different force on the gimmick. He brings up two additional ideas of forcing, but one of them isn’t what I would consider to be a force. I can see a lot of potential with this. Using DFB would be amazing with this. I won’t take any more time on the force area. It’s going to be up to you to determine how you choose to use this with forcing. But it does add a ton of options. Ditching- at some point there will be a time that you will need to ditch it. Unless your presentation is on point and you choose to use the version explained with the sticky dots. I have always had a problem with the idea that I have to ditch something. But........ I think this is one of those rare occasions that I will put in the work I need to make this the absolute best experience I can make for my audience. The words of the wise once said “ don’t run if you’re not being chased “ . So this will be at the performers discretion. Tips and idea- he mentions weddings a few times. Haunting/creepy or seances. There are literally a ton of scenarios that you can utilize this method with. Comedy is another one that I feel would be a great place to put it. Normally I would offer my opinion on pros and cons. But I think if I did, it would be premature. And I absolutely do not want to rob myself of anything in experience or educational that may surface when I do receive my gimmick. So I’ll hold off on those until I’ve had an adequate amount of time to use this in the real world. For my final words on my initial thoughts, I’ll cover something I mentioned in the beginning. The missed opportunities. I am at a loss of words when it comes to showing performances. There are literally none. I can’t for the life of me figure out why any product that has so much potential would leave out some pretty important performances. To me, they’re important because you get to see how the product is introduced to spectators. Also, by adding multiple performances you add an unlimited amount of wealth of information. Like how it’s ditched. How he positions the cup. How to manage the spectators. And different venues like street and stage performances. Some people would like to watch full uncut performances so that they can pick up on those kind of details. Imo, not having a single performance in the explanation is the biggest con. The hats just my opinion. These performances are very important. Outside of the editing there is an area about the p*ll that that could have been more detailed and addressed better imo. I say this because he takes a few minutes showing how to attach the gimmick to one. But not how to attach the P*ll to anything. I felt that was a missed opportunity. After I’ve had time to test this product in the real world I’ll come back and talk about if there are limitations in places where there are barely any sound in the background. Those reading this may think that I don't like this product or that I’m unhappy with my purchase. That is not the case at all. These are just my initial opinions. I can see a lot of opportunity with this. And I’m satisfied at this moment. Even after knowing what I’m getting, I can’t think of any reason why I wouldn't use this. I also believe that several others performers will use this with great success. I absolutely love the idea of taking a fun and childhood memory and applying it to magic. Can’t wait to receive mine. Now, would I recommend this product? I would. ( pending any issues with the gimmick) I think this is something a lot of us will enjoy. |

Could this be accomplished by using a normal sea shell and the spectator puts the sea shell to ear to hear the sea and you can hear the air movements and then the card is revealed ,the shell is then handed out to keep ,just wondering

I’d be careful using shells. They’ll think something fishy is going on.

This thing is a cool idea for comedy mind reading.
I would first read a participant's mind (using any method) with this prop and then have the participant read my, or another participant's mind. Do you think this could also work with a bo** condu**** kind of device? I have seen this IRL at a local shop and I think the risk exists of someone near the performer hearing the actual source of the sound. I think this would be less with a type of the aforementioned and partly redacted device. But I'm not sure if it would work.

Device issues. Is it just me or are others frustrated with the receiver's gimmick not working very reliably?
