Hey all,
Just dropping by to announce my latest book, which is available to pre-order now from cainemindreader.bigcartel.com: I KNOW WHAT YOU'RE THINKING. IKWYT contains 13 strong feats of practical, straight-forward effective mind reading and dozens more pieces of technique, subtleties and scripting that can be applied to your existing routines, this book contains something of real value for every mentalism performer. This book delves into the whole toolbox of mentalism techniques to provide routines that will allow you to reveal answers to personal unknown questions, tell truths from lies, reveal PINs, cards, passwords, names, drawings and more, leaving one your audience with one undeniable message: “I know what you’re thinking.” // FULL CONTENTS // Cardinal // A mind readers multiple selection routine. Without fail, you can reveal cards thought of from a shuffled deck in increasingly direct and impossible ways. Tri Hard // A propless card guess using nothing more than the participants calculator app and a series of genuinely free and random choices. Several approaches to the method are taught, from the super safe to the very bold. Non Lethal // A participant-as-mind-reader miracle and my solution to the single card prediction plot. The participant names the colour, suit and value of a card, and it matches the only card you removed from the deck and placed in full view. The Spyglass Effect // A lean, direct ACAAN for mind readers, including a very bold opening that perfectly justifies the routine and opens the door for something impossible. The Anything Test // You accurately reveal private answers to personal questions randomly selected by two participants. Layers of method make this a complete show-stealer of a routine that has closed my sets for over a year. The Only Thing // A snappy variation of The Anything Test perfect for table-hopping. Within moments you can reveal something personal and important to any participant you choose. Morningstar // This applies the Anything Test framework to playing cards and ESP cards, allowing you to slot those reveals into any other routine you perform with cards. Incognito // One participant thinks of a random word, and another thinks of a random name which they don’t write down anywhere. First you reveal the name, then the password. This uses one of the boldest, yet most invisible peeks I’ve ever discovered. Pyramind // A participant-as-mind-reader drawing duplication that introduces an improved handling for a classic technique and often leads to the participant reading your mind for real! ZNNR // My version of a three-phase ESP routine that ends with a can’t-fail moment of participant-as-mind-reader. This routine shows how even the simplest techniques can be made into something memorable. The Silver Hand // A Which Hand? PIN reveal. In closed fist, the participant is holding a folded billet containing their PIN. In the other fist, they hold a folded blank billet. Not only do you correctly determine which hand contains the PIN, but you can also reveal it in a safe, responsible manner. Stonefist // The participant writes down a truth and a lie about themselves on separate billets which they mix up. They hand you one and destroy the other. First, you reveal whether the one you’re holding is a truth or a lie, and then you guess what the other statement was with 100% accuracy. The Algorithm Prediction // How can mind readers - whose skill is about revealing information in the present - credibly perform prediction effects? The Algorithm Prediction is a performance framework and script for making prediction effects make sense for the mind reader. I love everything in this book, and I'm sure some of you will too. Cheers, SC |

CARDINAL:
This is really thorough in explanation and slight graphics for this routine help make the pages look more interesting. It has a nice reception structure and discussion of why the structure is set that way. The writing style is very nice - explaining the routine, then explaining a full script with the commentary/instructions for the performer makes it easy to follow. This format continues throughout the rest of the project. TRI HARD: This is an Interesting technique. In short it’s a clever way to proplessly force/divine a card with very simple process that doesn’t seem too much. Sometimes with routines like this the process is very overt and obvious - but with this it’s done well and is hidden. I wouldn’t use this myself but I can 100% see people liking this and going out to use it. Again it is written in detail - Simon also tips an easy way to remember certain things in routine which can be used elsewhere too. Really nice when coupled with ‘Incognito‘ as mentioned in the book. NON LETHAL: Some solid theory here and allows the participant to get to the card in play in the table. I’m confident that with a little bit of personal tweaking on the purchasers part you can make this suit you perfectly. Whilst not 100% direct 100% of the time, You’ll find it hits more often than not it very closely hits other times. It never really misses. THE SPYGLASS EFFECT: This is a neat CAAN effect with some unique thoughts - rather than forcing the number or card, or doing some difficult memory or moves, instead it gives a mind reading presentation. A roundabout way of doing it however, because if you knew the card and number from reading them, you could just state the card and number in speech. You can just state the card and number for this routine and have the kicker of the CAAN - myself, I wouldn’t use the CAAN to prove that you could read both thoughts - I would do the above on having the CAAN as a kicker. ANAGRAMS 101 Useful for those getting into anagrams, but it’s also useful for those who use anagrams as I believe the best way to improve your anagram use is to read everything you can on it. Simon goes very in detail here on what an anagram is and how to use it. THE ANYTHING TEST: A concept that I will be sure to use (and have used in the past). There are nice thoughts in this though that I’ll be sure to apply in future. It uses a good handling that is well explained by Simon. I really like the updated handling as it’s very disarming and fair. For those just getting into using anagrams, this is a great way to practice because the anagram is hidden very well. A widely known way to hide an anagram but useful nonetheless. A version not requiring an anagram is also discussed briefly here, which also has merit. TWO OTHER THINGS: This is an addition to the concept of the anything test. I’m not as much a fan of this as it uses two anagrams. However it could have its place. The Second other thing is very nice - Morningstar is its name. It’s a smart way to force someone to think of something - in this case a star sign. The framing is great for this and it’s something that I love a lot. INCOGNITO: A little processy for my liking, although it’s nice thinking. In my opinion a step of it could be cut out to make it less processy, and the same outcome can occur still. Although this is effective at forcing a name which can be used later for a prediction. Good discussion on ways to practice this and make it solid. Again, I really like the presentation and framing. PYRAMIND: This is my favourite piece of the whole book - and I went through a phase of despising drawing duplications. This can look very clean indeed - it’s clean regardless of the situation but it can be very direct reverse drawing duplication. The method is clever and it’s something I’d 100% do. The Stack Subtlety and technique to get one ahead here is very nice indeed and this is what I love most about the routine. ZNNR: I don’t do ESP routines, although I know a few methods. This one is nice and seems very fair - methods cancel out well. The presentation for this I like again. As a whole Simon’s presentations are really interesting. THE SILVER HAND: A novel approach to the which hand plot - something I’ve toyed with myself and the concept of this routine I’ve used in a different way. Simon goes into discussion about guessing participants actual bank pins and why he feels it should be done, which I agree with. The method is straightforward and this is probably how I would do a which hand plot too. STONE FIST: Again a great presentation which I like and it’s a plot I’m going to start using from today! A truth and a lie - you can tell which is which without looking, and also nail what the truth or lie is. This is very powerful. THE ALGORITHM PREDICTION: Simon shares an opinion which matched my own theory here, and also shares a way to combat a common ‘problem’ in prediction effects. Overall the project is plentiful on content, and full of very good ideas that many will use (I believe). It’s written in a Friendly and relaxed style, whilst renaming informative. As stated several times above, the presentations are very nice and I love the framing and method structure for nearly all of the effects discussed and taught. |

Thanks Mitchell!
Mark Elsdon was also kind enough to offer his thoughts on IKWYT: "Simon's new book is choc-full of great work on almost every area of contemporary mentalism: cards, PINs, chunneling, anagrams - he has work on all of it. But most importantly, in every category he he has clever new ideas and touches that are invaluable and for my money make this book mandatory reading. In the final chapter, The Algorithm Prediction, he offers a practical solution one of modern mentalism's biggest problems: how to make predictions make sense to the audience and not allow them to over power the mindreading. This chapter alone is worth the price of the book. Highly recommended." |

Hey guys,
If you want a taste of this book, you can grab a free chapter, Non Lethal, here: http://bit.do/ikwyt-free-chapter A year ago, I released Non Lethal as a stand-alone effect, so it’s not just a random piece of ‘filler’, it’s one of the books stand-out pieces. If you like Non-Lethal, I promise you’ll love IKWYT. Enjoy, SC |

OK guys so here it is my full review of IKWYT from Simon Caine.
First, I do not know Simon Caine, but have seen some of his publications on Facebook, and after talking to Peter, thought I would pick this up. The foreword is from Peter Turner, and then we get to the effects: Effects descriptions can be found above Cardinal Similar to a multiple selection routine, but its not exactly that. You could say it is a cross-over between a Tossed Out Deck and a multiple selection routine, and inspirations for this came from Luke Jermay. Simon shows you what you need to do, how to prepare, and how to milk the effect further. What I like about this one is the shuffling, that is what makes it look clean, at least in my mind. I have already tried this out the other day, and it flew by the spectators, and they were really impressed. I have actually elevated the effect, and have added something extra, for a final kicker at the end. For those that have this, you may contact me and I will fill you in on what this is.....proof of purchase required of course. So this is something that you will always have on you and be able to do, no gimmicks, and plays fairly well to a large group, or small group, then add in the extra kicker at the end, and you have a powerhouse of an effect. Rating: 9/10 Tri-Card This for me at least, was worth the price of the book. You can read the description above. A mental miracle per say. Another idea will be shared on this as well, where you do not have to use cards for this effect. This is the effect I have been performing the most, because its easy to do, and doesn't require much at all. Some may like it, others may not, since it may seem procedural, but I guarantee you, spectators will have no clue. 10/10 Non-Lethal Description above. Havent tried this one out yet, but it reads good, not sure if I will actually try it out. Not because its hard, but just working on some other stuff right now. Rating: 7/10 The Spyglass Effect Similar to a CAAN. I know lots of variations, and this one is good, I only dabbed at it a bit during practice. Will it replace ACAAN or CAAN that I am currently doing, NO, but this routine is good if you want to add to your toolbox of methods, or just want to have another CAAN. Rating: 8/10 Anagrams 101 The name says it all. Simon goes over Star Signs, and how to perform with anagrams. Rating: None, since its more of an essay than anything else. The Anything Test Simon says this is the best thing he has created. Description above. But you need to learn the Anagrams 101 to perform this. The idea is not new, but I believe Simon has created this independently. This is similar to a Robert Watkins release. He credits Robert as well as Mark Chandaue, then he goes over the way he does it with the Anagram. He also shares The Anything Deck, same idea but with a deck of cards. He also goes over two other routines using the same idea: The Only Thing & Morningstar I like how he takes an existing routine, and then expands it, and gives you a lot more ideas so you can pick and choose what you want to use. Rating: 8/10 ICOGNITO Great use of ideas/principles described in Anything Test to change the effect completely. Can be used on stage. Credits go to Joshua Quinn on this one. Similar to Peter Turner's Guess Who, with a combination of principles that you can use here from people like Michael Murray. Rating: 7/10 Cant use this here since I am in Mexico, so will not perform this. Pyramind Great drawing duplication, and covers if the spectator misses. Rating: 7/10 ZNNR The name says it all. Rating: 8/10 The Silver Hand Rating: 9/10 StoneFist Truthteller/Liar effect All you need is some business cards and a pen Rating: 8.5/10 The Agorithm Prediction Essay on The Problem with Predictions, and goes over an example using a Basic Routine 10/10 I must add that my rating scale from 1-10, anything a 7-10 is passable. Obviously a 7 is par, 8 is good 9 & 10 are excellent. I have used 2 ideas from this book, Cardinal & Tri-Hard, more the latter than any other routine. There is something in here for everyone, whether you like Truth/Lie routines, drawing duplication routines, card effects like CAAN, or Tossed out deck, as well as billet routines, and the one I use the most which is basic and straightforward whether you use it the way it is or you condense it. Thanks Alex Alejandro

Disclaimer: I do know Simon and I have helped with proofreading the book. I even contributed a subtlety for a subtlety...
I really do like the thinking in this book. Simon has clearly spent a lot of time thinking about how mind reading should look and feel and clarifying that thinking into these excellent routines. He has worked the routines and refined them - he added an excellent subtlety to the zodiac anagram only days ago that elevates it to a new level, it gives you only one 'no' and an extra 'yes' before the reveal. I'm not an anagram chap but this improvement alone will make me happily perform a zodiac guess any time I can! I think you will find much to value in this book. |
