Hi
Are you familiar with Vernon’s Optical Change? It’s similar to the “Monte move”: you hold 2 cards and in the act of turning them over you switch one for the other. I wanted to know if you have experience with this move, and how deceptive it is Thanks

I am familiar with a John Scarne move that fits that description and yes it is deceptive. Most moves can be deceptive if the practitioner does them well and at the right time.
It's never crowded on the extra mile....

The optical change is pretty good, although I'm not sure how well it would do as the central secret to a trick. Used in a larger routine involving other deceptive switches, or else coupled with a transferring marker of some kind (paperclip, stamp, matchbook) is the way to go, in my humble opinion.
What were you thinking of using it for?

Harry Lorayne has a very nice Monte routine based solely on this move.

But done with three cards, as in a "normal" THREE-card monte. I've taught it in a few areas. Start reading the good stuff. guys!!!!
