I saw Cellini lecture in Albany last year and he was incredible. I was in awe for the entire lecture and I get bored easily. This is a man who is indisputibly one of the best, if not THE best, street magicians of our time. He has travelled the world, entertained people in many nations and has made his living with some rope, a deck of cards, a coin, his hat and his wits. I do not get the impression that life has always been easy for Mr. Cellini but I do believe that he is an artist who has contributed much to his craft. Some of his lines sound a little politically incorrect, but they have worked for him in the real world.

I have no aspirations to be a street magician, much too tough a life in my opinion, but I have tremendous respect for Cellini and the life he has lead. For that reason I would buy his DVD's, if for no other reason than to witness a master craftsman at work.

Cellini is lecturing to my ring tomorrow (6/5/04) if he shows up. Anything in particular that I should pay attention too, look for, ask about, or routines/effects I should request be performed?

Why wouldn't he show up?

He did in Phoenix and brought the house down. He fooled the pants off everyone with-THUMBTIP magic. I go to lectures with the attitude: Prove yourself. Well, he did. And privately when he sits by himself during the break-you get the REAL DEAL. He is so charming and generous, you'll fall in love with him like his audiences around the world have!!!!

This ****** me off!...the guy has done 150 lectures in the last 3 years...was late by 2 hours for one...ONE lecture and everyone thinks hes not reliable....you have got to be kidding me. He will be there...by the way...the one he didn't show up at....was Atlanta...so he's going there next week and doing it for free...FREE!..guys come on here and say this crap....and it affects how this great magi makes his living...he's lost 3 lectures in the last week because of this....I hope anyone who has bad things to say about his reliability has car trouble tomorrow...

Gio, you sound like a solid guy....but when you say things like you said people who know and do this for a lving are going to take notice....this guy is great...beter than you , better than me...and better than anyone you have ever seen...truly a master...but this dvd is not about that...its just about how to succeed...and if you wanted to be a street performer which is what this dvd is geared for...and you went out and tried the methods taught using your style oof performance and you were doing this for money..not for fun,,,,we don't do this for fun,,,you would see that this is the way to go...

hope all is well

Jim is down in Florida for a while. Thanks to Koz I had a chance to meet him a few years back. But recently I had a chance to talk with him a little more in depth about his life and magic. The man is a legend and an icon. Anyone who has done and accomplished what he has done deserves the utmost respect. His vast knowledge along with his presence is almost awe inspiring to me. Taking time with him brought me back to my younger days and how I felt meeting Marlo and Vernon. If you miss seeing this man and maybe having the opportunity spending some time with him I feel sorry for you. I rate my little bit of time with him a highlight of my 30 years of magic.
Mistakes happen but don't trash a legend

Anyone slamming Cellini doesn't deserve to see him.

Just listen very closely to everything this man says.
If you have a hanky to wipe the tears,, ask him to do his 2 ring routine...Truly a thing of beauty....

To those who think I was slamming Celini, and those asking about his reliability.

I was not slamming him, but stating a known quantity. Celini has more than "shown up 2 hours late". He has failed to show up at all, after being paid in advance more than a few times. And this information concerning his lecture to my ring has come from about as authoritative of sources as you could want. Such as a former international president of the IBM. Other "top guns" who I will not name since they are not part of this discussion and I won't post information form them without their permission.

Koz,

Look at it from a different perspective -

3 groups of people have lost the chance to learn from a legend, the master himself.

If I was planning to attend one of those lectures, and the planner canceled because Jim was late once, I'd be spittin' nails.

Imagine if you were late to your non magic job because of car trouble and they fired you?

Cellini is one of crafts greatest treasures. I think he deserves more respect than that!

Greetings and Salutations,

I've had about enough and have got to post a reply.

Let the first one who has never been late or missed one appointment be the first to cast a stone. That leaves all Cellini's detractors out, as it does the rest of us, and me.

I expect the one lobbing the stones is a hack of the highest order and isn't qualified to fetch water for Cellini. Is Cellini the greatest magician of our time? I don't know -- that jury will be out for quite some time, and most of us will be well past our prime when Cellini's name is written for the final time.

Will he personally, personably and freely share of his time, advise and experience with even a newbie stuffed full of questions? Yes! I was that newbie a couple of years ago in Kansas City -- where he blew away a room full of magicians.

Cellini doesn't need someone like me defending him against some pinhead, judge for yourself. If you miss his lecture, you will miss the opportunity to see real magic performed by a man who can create a stage anywhere there is are people and some reasonably clear, level ground. If you walk away from his lecture without something new in your bag of tricks, it may be time to explore a new hobby. It doesn't matter if your venue is the stage, club, party, tradeshow or the street, you will walk away from his lecture a better magician.

At best I'm a hack. I've seen a few good entertainers who perform tricks. Cellini is a magician!

No qualifiers, if you miss a chance to see Cellini, you have missed some very real magic.

Joe in KC
