When I first got into magic in the late 60's I purchased a set of linking rings. The key ring had a spring controlled locking mechanism. I no longer have the set but can anyone tell me who might have manufactured it and if it's still available today? Another question- are Joe Porper's large linking rings (not the linking finger rings) still available? I registered to the forum a few minutes ago so this is my first post.
Excited I came across it and looking forward to contributing. |

Illusion.works is the current Joe Porper site. I think he still makes the rings. Porper, Owen, and Pro-Line are the best rings out there. I have an Owen set which I love but I've heard the Pro-Line locking key is easier to use.... one day I'd like to give it a try.
If anyone happens to know who Magic Masters bought linking rings from in the very early 90's I'd be interested in that. I have still my 8" set that my parents bought me from magic masters in new orleans. still a really great set. |

Owens Magic has the rights to all Merv Taylor products. They sell what they have available through Hocus-Pocus Magic website.

All these factors would help us narrow down where the rings could have come from. The only manufactures were Owens Magic, Abbott's magic, Lou Tannen's, P & L Magic, and L. Irelands aka Magic Inc., Resore Magic, Fabjance Magic, and Town House Magic. There were some private metal makers of gimmicked coins using real money, but they just Wholesaled there products to stores. Linking Rings do not have any Hal-mark impressed on them, so unless you kept the box or Instruction it would be impossible to tell one set of rings from another. |
