I just got into magic about a year ago. I was wondering who are some of your favorite writers in Magic? For instance, I find Paul Harris really witty, entertaining, and even a little bizarre at times.

Harry,

What book are you most proud of? Maybe the most fun you had writing or most rewarding? I'll pick up a copy.

Thanks mlippo and Russo. I've never heard of either of those guys. I'll check them out when I can!

Well your title in the thread had the word "entertaining", so I thought I didn't have to reply with the BEST writer.
Steve Beam is a very good writer AND extremely entertaining. That's why I chose him.
If we're talking of BEST writers, then Roberto Giobbi would be on top of my list of preferences.

John Lovick is pretty entertaining. I have "what women want" for example, and found his writing better than the actual magic. He's funny, and in that book he obviously had permission to poke fun at Mayhew.

It's funny you mention Paul Harris in the initial post. I was reading AofA #3 this morning and thought of this thread. He has an effect in there involving a restored sugar pack and a dollar bill. A lot of tricks of all varieties will end with a 'clean up' section, but this one is particularly relevant because there is spilled sugar all over the place. He has a couple notes on clean up at the end.

If seated. I'm sure you have an idea of what might be involved here, and keeping in mind the spilled sugar... he ends the section saying, "Stand over a cup of coffee before you leave"
If standing. Ends with "... then hose yourself off in the bathroom"

I laughed out loud reading the clean up section. His recommendation on the "Professional Presentation" for this one: "Want to see something really neat? Watch this."

Hahaa! Yeah that's exactly what I'm talking about. I have a few books that are hilarious but the magic is so-so, whereas the Kaufman books I have (moved into a cardboard box after buying CoinMagic) are concise and perfect instructions. Thanks again for the suggestions.

Derren Brown’s books are hilarious (not to mention brilliant and incisive).
