Hi - I've enjoyed sharing magic experiences with friends, family and occasionally for small parties. Nothing 'big time'.
I'm now focusing on tricks for a group of human resource professionals I've been asked to entertain during their reception (strolling). I'm thinking 3 sets of 3 tricks, like I've read here on the Café. I'd like to tailor the tricks for people in the human resource field. Do you folks have any ideas? What closeup tricks come to mind when you think HR? Thanks for any and all help. (For this specifically and in general for all the ideas and experience I've read in the Café for years.) James |

Just a personal opinion, but for me the tricks and 95-99% of the presentation would be the same.
I don't think that working in HR makes people different. I did a job for a firm of accountants/wealth managers and the only changes made were the occasional joke/line which was sector specific and I used a large Bitcoin for one routine (but I didn't re-script it particularly). Best of luck with the gig, Charlie |

I agree with Charlie. In my experience, a couple of jokes and MAYBE one trick slightly themed would work just fine. I usually think of themed tricks being more of a necessity with Trade Show performances. Just show them your best stuff and make them laugh, they will love you! As for a HR themed trick, you do the ACR. They select a candidate, he shows what he can do, it gets promoted to the top of the deck, and then its fired (Disappears). Just a silly idea, hope it helps!

I've occasionally performed Chicago Surprise but with the odd backed card having the companies logo on the back (I just print it ona white sticker and stick it on the back of a blank backed card)
To be honest though I think for reception events they are trying to unwind and not think about work, so just stick to magic rather than incorporating a companies message. 3 sets of 3 is good advice, however when I'm performing it's normally the same 5 trick set for each group, with another 5 on backup if the group becomes larger or they want to see more. Check out the 'What do you bring with you for a walk around routine?' thread for the effects I perform |
