I purchased Revolve direct from Abstract Effects last summer. The included video was 21 minutes long and only included one routine created and taught by Nicholas Lawrence. It’s very nice and I like it a lot. Another amazing eye-candy effect with 2 cards that you can carry in your wallet and it’s always ready to go.
Now that it is in wide release it seems to include additional material such as the clear plastic card and ideas from Calen Morelli that were NOT part of the original tutorial. Can anyone confirm this? |

Quote “Finally watched tutorial and played with the gimmick. Really well designed gimmick. Functions very well. Only one real routine is taught on the tutorial and really wish they taught a few more. As is, it’s cool but one of those “this is really cool but what the heck do I do with it” gimmicks. Hope Nicholas adds some content” .
Well then it’s the same it would seem as the original that I have had nearly 5 years . It’s a great gimmick and easy to construct once you know the how . Obviously this now comes as a pre made gimmick and I hope it still shows how to make your own like my version did Gaz 🙂 |

I would of thought it would have offered more handlings and ideas I must admit Gaz 🙂

Just wanted to update that I emailed Abstract Effects this morning about getting access to any new Revolve material and received a link very quickly so kudos to them for their fast and excellent customer service.
Have only had a chance to skim through it and it appears to be about 30 minutes longer than the original. It looks like Nicholas goes over the same basic routine in more detail than the original and they now include a fairly lengthy gaff-making segment which was not part of the original video at all, and that part takes up most of the extra time. Haven’t watched the segment with Calen Morelli yet so not sure if there is much new there, but it does look to be a fairly short segment though. |

Calen segment didn’t add much.

My tutorial of the original is all about making the gimmick as a gimmick didn’t come with it .
So it seems this must be the third release of this effect Gaz 🙂 |

I'm very curious! Especially the possibility that you can use other objects, is great!

Yes sorry Bill I keep forgetting the name has changed a touch .
I have Evolve which is essentially I believe the same method and effect . However I will be checking out Revolve to see for improvements and any new handlings as I love the concept and visuals of this gimmick Gaz 🙂 |

Ok I have now confirmed this has a definite improvement over the original Evolve that I have .
Also some additional handlings are shown with this and a ready made gimmick provided . It’s a great effect and I am pleased what was already a brilliant piece of eye candy is even better still now . Highly recommended , amazing creativity from Nicholas . Best wishes Gaz 👍🙂 |

Is it possible to make your own gimmick easily enough after the provided one wears out?

Yes. He includes an in depth construction section.

This one comes with a pre-made gimmick which is awesome! It's good to know that it is better than the previous version, and you can make the gimmick yourself.

Has anyone received their 'revolve'? Mine was shipped yesterday from Penguin.

I think this is ok to post here, especially since the creator tells you how to make the gimmick? I have the new "pre-made" version. Love everything about it however my gimmick doesn't always change colors smoothly. Sometimes the action is slow and one could easily see the change from blue to red, and method for same. Also, it seems that one side, when resting, MUST face the performer so as not to see a side edge flash. With that being the case, an observant spectator could see some extra layers on their side.
Really hoping to work out these kinks so it can be used worry free. Thanks |

I received mine from Penquin on Tuesday. The gimmick is well made. As pointed out there are some minor angle issues, which in my opinion are easily controlled. Honestly, I haven't made it through the entire video yet, the first half is well taught, lighting & sound are very good. My mind is already working out incorporating the gimmick into an already established routine. The visuals are just as seen in the promo's. I have not run into the changing being slow, time will tell. I am very glad I purchased this! Not a big "gimmick" guy, but the hyper-visual change was exactly what I was looking for, haven't seen anything else that accomplishes this as effortlessly as this. Well, maybe not effortlessly, but y'all get the point. Think outside the box...you can achieve the "impossible".

Anything similar to Money Shot by Patrick Kun?

I still have Elvolve and that changes in lightning speed .
I am wondering whether the benefits of the extra folded piece is making it slower and is therefore not an advantage at all . I will tinker wit the gimmick and see Gaz 🙂 |

Looks like we have two threads about this effect. Can admin combine them?

Tinkered with the new gimmick and it’s fine . You can even add another piece and before the change the whole card can be shown and you can still clean up just as easy . I wonder why Nicholas didn’t think of that Gaz 🙂
