There's a simple trick with two loops. I use two different colored stretchy-loops from the Weaving Loom sets at Walmart. Basically, the two loops are intertwined, then the two sections of one loop are placed over the thumb. The performer pulls down of the other loop that is suspended from the one over the thumb and, at some point, the loops change places. That is, the "blue" loop that is over the thumb switches places with the "yellow" loop than was originally suspended from it.
I teach this at birthday parties and magic workshops but I DO NOT have a set of instructions to take home with them. Before attempting to write and diagram my own instructions, I was wondering if anyone knows of a source for printed instructions on this, or a YouTube video that teaches it? I already searched YouTube with several different phrases but couldn't find anything. Any help is greatly appreciated. |

Good find Vinny!
The effect does look familiar, but I can't think of where I might have seen it. If I find a source, I post it. John

THAT's IT! I think
As I remember, Ginn did it with 2 differently colored rope. I can check tomorrow to see if it is written up in any of Ginn's books that I have. Yet this may all be academic... MichaelCGM hasn't seemed to check back in her John

That said, I’m interested! I really appreciate when folks answer a question for closure, even if the person who asked is no longer checking in. It means other folks still get the help.
This is the sort of trick I would like to have more of in my repertoire. Patrick |

Woops, I almost for got to look..
I found Ginn's demo (on my computer), but that does not have the instructions nor diagrams, but I did find a reference with pictures: "The Big Book of Magic Fun" by Ian Keable (I'm uncertain of the last name due to the use of a strange font). It has "Loop the Loop" on page 92, with diagrams! Ginn's routine with ropes is called "Disbanded" (he does a look don't see presentation, followed by an unlinking and then 3 ropes all liking for a finale (by a swxxxx) A somewhat related method is in Ency of Rope Tricks, p330 John
