I recently acquired some Fakini golf balls. One set looks great, but one set and the Jumbo ball finale have seen some more use and are somewhat discolored.
While openly admitting I'm not the best at arts and crafts, is there any procedure that you have actually used to get discolored ones back to a whiter appearance? I did do a search and found some suggestions, but thought that since it's now a couple of more years (or over a decade in some instances), people might be seeing this a little more or have other suggestions. The suggestions I've seen (have not tried any yet) : Scrubbing with gum control Crest toothpaste several times. Soak in hydrogen peroxide for 15 or more minutes - another person tried this and had less than great results although the poster said they did it monthly. Acetone - although the person that suggested this did not actually do it, just was suggested by a friend. Dawn dishsoap and warm water (apparently suggested by Fakini himself) although no follow up to anyone actually trying it or even these days, which of the numerous versions to use or if it matters. Thanks, Bart |

As noted above, I always used Dawn dish soap in warm water. The frequency depends on how often you use them. Oils on your skin will attract airborne debris and while it may not be visible, it will effect the overall performance of the balls. I never used any chemical substances as I always feared they may cause damage. After all they use dawn soap to clean animals covered in oil so it's gentle not harmful.

I'll see if I can do any sort of credible job of posting before / after pictures. I think it will be hard due to size limitations, but we'll see how the pictures come out. |
