I'm a touch surprised that Peter Turner says this is the app that converted him to 'app magic', as it uses the magician's phone. In my opinion, anything that makes use of (apparently) only the spectator's phone is far more convincing.
Of course, I realize that's all for marketing purposes.

I purchased this the other day and plan on using it as an out as described by Peter Turner in the explanation videos. I've tried it on friends and family as marketed, and the fact that I am using my phone instead of their phone never comes up. Phones are ubiquitous in our society, so I do not believe anyone cares whose phone it is unless we, as magicians, feel the need to over prove by identifying which phone we are using. If it's presented as "have you seen my Instagram feed lately?" as you pull out the phone and go to the feed as opposed to, "What I have here is a phone. It is an ordinary phone, not gimmicked in any way. As you can see here on my home screen is an Instagram icon. You can tell it is the genuine Instagram, and not a copy based on how genuine the icon looks. I will now press this genuine icon on my ungimmicked phone to launch the real Instagram app and not a web based copy. You can tell it's genuine by the way it looks......."
My only caveat is that sometimes the feed is slow to load based on the speed of my phones internet connection. Besides that, works as advertised. Scott |

I don't disagree with you peirceman. Too many draw unnecessary suspicion to everyday objects out of their own performance guilt. I do, however, also credit spectators with thinking about things more than we often want to give them credit for. A litmus test for me is this: if it's something that would occur to me, then it's very likely something that would occur to [at least] some of them. This isn't necessarily the case with more clandestine knowledge (a spectator won't as likely suspect a pass or palming if those are things they have no knowledge of, though they may at least conclude that the magician 'did something with sleight of hand'). But everyone is aware of the ability of apps to do just about anything. So, the leap to a special app masking itself as a popular app isn't a very big one. Question: is the prediction photo then loaded to your IG account in the correct position, so that if they go an check your IG on their phone it will still be there?
The one app I use that's on my own phone is also a fake IG app (Predict N' Grab), but it uses real images that exist on my IG, so all is copacetic at the end. This is why I prefer using the spectator's phone. It erases any notions of an app since they know you couldn't have installed such a thing on their phone. I realize I'm stating the obvious, but that's why. But, again, I agree that a presentation infused with verisimilitude goes a long way towards dispelling suspicion.

Does this work with someone who has very minimal images on his Instagram?

Magic app hater here. Or could I say former magic app hater. I bought this about 5 days ago and I had high hopes as I really liked the idea of predicting something with Instagram for as long as I saw it done in BGT by Marc Spellman (different app though). I have usually hated magic apps as (what I have seen) they are not "normal" looking. Like, you touch the screen and a coin appears. Then you proceed to take the coin out from the screen. I have never liked apps like that. But this.. This looked like real thing, something that pretty much everybody has! So I bought it, watched the instructions and got the hang of how to use it pretty much immediately. It is so easy to use!
Firstly I did what I always do with new tricks that excite me, showed it to my girlfriend. Her reaction, "I think people would like it. I am not the right person to react to this because you show me so much stuff". She also mentioned that the prediction picture looked like "stock image" which in a way, they are. So for the next half hour I took new pictures of all the playing cards from the deck with my holding the card and then uploading them to the app. I have now performed this to about 6-7 times to different people and the reactions have been really good. Reactions has been varied from "SHUT UP!" to "how did you manage to make me choose that card?". And no, I don't patter about how I could make people choose a card I want, the person who reacted that way just has been reading some material about mentalism, suggestions, etc (even though he is a layman). Nobody has said anything about Instagram or the layout (which are just my normal Instagram account, dark theme with my pictures as you can sync your information from you Instagram to the app). Also nobody has yet wanted to go check Instagram with their own phone to see the picture themselves. And if they do, they give you few solutions on the instructions. There are few drawbacks which are not that minor but which I hope gets fixed in future updates. Firstly, the app writes the name of the card under the prediction and you can edit the app to add text before and after the named card (for example, you can make it "I know that" *prediction card* "is Riku's card"). There are 4 languages that this app supports, English, French, German and Spanish. It of course changes the language of the app but it also the name of the card. But there is no option to remove the the text at all! So if you predict a hockey score for example, in the description of the picture there will read a random playing card for some reason. And because you can not edit or remove the text, you can not change the text to match your country if your native language is not English, French, German or Spanish. I hope they could fix that. (Of course you could make a "prediction deck" where you just write all the outcomes to playing cards and then show that you have predicted the right playing card with the correct score. It also makes the effect easier as you don't need to memorize anything else than the routine playing card prediction procedures.) Second thing (even more minor) is that the app in your phone (at least in my Android) has a little "Chrome" logo on top of the Instagram logo. That's because the app works from a website and it is not downloaded to your phone. Of course you can just open the app without showing your phone screen to the spectator so it is not a big think but still little irritating. Rather than that, I haven't found anything that really bothers me. You can sync your Instagram account so it automatically brings your profile information and pictures to the program and you can edit pictures to whatever you like too. Also you can fully edit your profile (followers, bio, website, it even let's you put that "verified" tick next to your name). For the price of 20$, I am very happy with this product. It takes some time to set up to make it personal (and I encourage you do!) but it is not a big deal. Also you can really predict anything and make all the predictions as personal as you want. For the price, this is well worth it! Once it is set up, you have always a killer prediction trick with you. |

Grabbed this today and I must admit I really like it.
I own a fair few apps and this one is right up there. Reason I like it so much is the input method (so clean) 100% recommend this for the price. |

How does this compare to Predict n' grab?
All I know is they both simulate your Instagram account? Anyone own both to compare? |

Im considering getting this as it looks great for self promo, quick question to anyone who owns this. Can you "delete" the prediction in front of the spectator and then later ask them to add you on the real gram, otherwise there would be a discrepancy when they add you and the prediction has all of a sudden vanished.

Naturally, one would want to avoid having more pictures in the app than in real Instagram. Anyone who has it care to give some info on the minimum number of images one would need to have for this to work? |

I really enjoy this app. I purchase a fair bit of magic apps, so I have purchased some duds haha. This is definitely not a dud though, I quite enjoy it, and what makes it incredibly nice is the price AND input method. If you are looking for a quick way to get spectators to go to your instagram, or an incredibly FAST way to save a failed prediction - I HIGHLY recommend this. The price is just a no brainer haha, and it is for sure a tool that might make either a less confident magician, or a magician practicing bold predictions, much more comfortable with practicing and having this app as a backup! Either way, it is for sure worth the purchase.

Based on what I'm reading here, Predict n Grab (which I use) is superior. It makes use of real images in your IG account, therefore there is no discrepancy between the photos seen in the app and those on your real IG account. They match, photo for photo. This is because the app is linked to your actual account (I don't know if Predictagram does this). Also, though it's a small point, the app icon on your phone is identical to the real IG app icon. And I just think it's a more interesting effect.

Can anyone comment on how to handle it in case they check your instagram and looking that foto up? This is an important question because if you perform this to people a secondary aim would be that they will follow your IG profile after the performance.
