Who are your top sleigh of hand card magic influencers?
My top 5: Shin Lim - started with watching him on P&T Fool Us, and winning AGT, perked my interest into how he did it and got me to do my deep dive Lennart Green - watched youtube videos and his sleights are just one of a kind. his student takumi takahashi is also amazing. Richard Turner- from Penn and Teller card mechanic god, what he does with cards is just on another level, plus the fact he is blind.. what!! Juan Tamariz - I searched and search for less sleight of hand intensive magic and found my way to mem stack, and realize I still need to master sleights. he is my card magic idol. seeing many others use his stack makes me happy. Dani Daortiz - his totally hands off trick and audience management is amazing, his singing of "shuffle and shuffle and shuffle" is stuck in my head forever Looking forward to hear who your influences are and who I need to take a closer look at studying. Thank you! |

I think it would be helpful for everyone to list their reasons like the original poster did. Obviously we can guess, but maybe someone is on your list for less than obvious reasons?

My Mount Rushmore would probably have to be Dai Vernon, Ed Marlo, Ricky Jay and Steve Forte.

Harry Lorayne - When you watch Harry you feel like you know him. He's a guy showing you some cool things. Special tables, smoke, stylized movements and precise placements of each object, looks good on TV or in magic competitions but for me, it creates a barrier.
I'm not saying that style is bad, I'm just saying it does nothing for me. Michael Ammar - Michael is more scripted than Harry Lorayne but he still keeps things simple and I probably perform more of the card tricks he teaches than any one else. |

Jeeeeeezus.
If this has been asked once, it's been asked a thousand times before. Seriously, how many of these utterly pointless threads does this forum need.

Thank you for your responses! I have been working on Asi Wind's ACAAN and have read Michael Close's road to riffsville and watched his memdeck video. All great purchases.
I just started reading Harry's books on memory and it is quite interesting! any other literature recommendations out there are welcome! thanks again. |

You could have read this post and not waste any more time, but instead you decided to spend some time to cry about it and write an utterly pointless response. bravo merc man, bravo. |
