This is a new Oil and Water idea from underground Japanese magician Takeshi Taniguchi. No gaffs, extras, and it can be done with no difficult sleights!

I'm very on board with this. Really great handling and method.

Well, I just watched the whole thing and I have to say; hands down the best $5 I have spent in a long time! Very nice routine, good video & production quality, and the teaching is fantastic! His explanations couldn't be any more clear the methods are great. I love the use of the clear cards during the explanations. Nothing is left to question the video shows & explains everything clearly and at a speed that is easy to follow along with I highly recommend it. thanks again Ben Daggers for posting this!

I really don't see it. This seems meh at best.
Maybe it's because I just learned David Regals "Perfectly Oiled", but this is so underwhelming in comparison.

You can't compare this to Perfectly Oiled; they are two different things. Perfectly Oiled is a great multi-phase self-contained trick. Takeshi is not really giving you a standalone trick (I agree it's not very interesting by itself), but rather an extra phase you can add to an existing O&W routine. I am not aware of an O&W routine that lets you see the red and black cards visually melt through each other to separate. This gives you that as an additional phase if you like it. And given that it uses only 3 cards of each color, you could incorporate it into Perfectly Oiled if you wanted to.

I guess it is the magician in me but the method was immediately obvious to me. Yes, it is nice, but as a single-effect download? But then the David Regal effect is from his book Star Quality, published long ago and now out of print. You can find it cheaper on L&L's site, but the download on one site was $9.95 just for Perfectly Oiled.
It is a weird time in publishing. Do you do a book, a video, single-effect releases? How soon are they going to be on Chinese knock-off sites? How soon will someone tip the method on youtube? I'm glad my income isn't dependent on the magic publishing industry.

Really, because I didn't/couldn't follow it the first time. If anything, the colors separating was secondary to the three cards melting through. I think a layman seeing that will think how did the cards fall through? Not, how did the colors separate? The setup all seems contrived to demonstrate that the cards are in separate layers and then pass through. The colors separating muddies what is an excellent penetration effect. IMHO

I agree. Use this for your finale and say "Watch closely because you will see the cards literally melt through one-another".

I can imagine combining the best parts of Anthony Owen's Oil and Water with this routine.

Im sure theres a bit more to it (there always is no matter how easy it looks) but it's a nice quick take on this classic...In & out with 6 cards, and a little finesse and style. What's not to like, and for $5 bucks it looks like a little winner to me. *Oh, and I appreciate the effects that Ben brings to our attention on the Café...Always something interesting. Thanks.
