Hi guys,
Does anyone have any video of magician, Barry Allen (graduate of the Joe Riding School O' Magic) performing his magic. He told me to google his name, But I was only able to find "the flash". Unless that's him?... Any help is appreciated, J |

Should've been specific, he has 40+ years experience.. Has anyone heard of him before?

I thought user “Merc Man” was Barry Allen (According to his signature) I may be wrong but it reads that way to me.

Firstly, I didn't ask you to Google MY name. I advised you to search 'Joe Riding'.
To answer your question, you won't find any clips of me performing......simply because I don't work for free! Your obsession with me is getting VERY scary.

How can anyone be a professional magician in 2020 with no website, social media presence of any kind of mention of them online other than their local magic club? Does Barry have a stage name or is he so underground he's removed almost all trace of himself from the internet?

Yeah, I’m not sure what the issue is. Many businesses operate that way. It’s rare, but not impossible.

I find the older guys depend more on relationships they have established already. If you're just starting out tody you could do some restaurants and bars/nightclubs without being online, but customers will ask for at least an Instagram. To get gigs at more higher-end places, I find that an online presence is much needed. You can't start tackling today the cooperate market without it. Quote:

In the Middle East where I visit frequently, your market value (i.e how much you can charge, and how end are the private parties you get to perform for) is also influenced by your social media presence and amount of followers on Twitter and Instagram. |

Please tell me what that means. How do you give someone an "instagram"?

You give them your Instagram account to follow you there.

Whether we like it or not, social media has become transcendent. The younger generation lives and dies by it. They use it to keep in touch, they use it to date, they use it for their news. When we were young folks saw the news a couple of times a day. Now it is 24/7 and information is literally a click away. We cannot put that genii back into the bottle.
So I have no doubt that modern-day magicians will have to rely on technology in order to find work. Facebook, twitter, Instagram, it all is in the mix. For the benefit of those that don't know much about it, and I barely do, the strength of something like Instagram would work this way: You perform at an event. You have someone take photos. You then post the photo onto your Instagram account. You share your account address with others. They visit your account and make comments on the photos or whatever, they sometimes share those comments with others, or pass your post along to others. So let's say you do a corporate event. You post photos of yourself working the event. Representatives from that company can now reply to your post and tell everyone what a great time they had and such. So it works like a testimonial. For your next client, you share your Instagram account with them and they can go look at the type of work you've done and read the comments. Helps you close deals. It is a tool. Facebook, same. Twitter, depending on how you handle it, it might be a tool.
It's never crowded on the extra mile....

Facebook, Instagram, etc...Free marketing and advertisement. You can't beat it. Hard to say anything bad about it.
