Does anyone know where I can get some fake razor blades or how to make them?

Get some real blades and then scrape the edges against a smooth stone to dull them.

Take care, Ian

If you can find silver mylar plastic sheets, the late Terry Rogers made them herself by cutting them out. Just trace a real blade and use an exacto knife.

I could not find the mylar sheet.

In her video she used these blades and a TT to do the razor blades from mouth. It looked great on the video. I am surprised a dealer never picked up on this and made them available in this form.

Tim Ellis in his lecture notes has a description of how to make your own.

They are safe AND they cut paper like a razor blade!

I think I have 2 copies of these notes if you want to buy a copy from me.

PM me if you're interested.

Sorry, don't know a source for your blades, but on a related subject, saw Teller on late night with Carson Daley the other night. He did an incrediable needles on thread from mouth, very convincing, with lots of pizzaz. How does he do it?? (That's a compliment.) Wish he would come into his own and lose the loud mouth obnoxious guy.

The easiest way is to buy a set of "pocket razor blades from mouth." They come in a velveteen holder and include 5 or 6 stamped razor blades that have never been sharpened.

Given the way they started in business together I think "losing the loud mouth obnoxious guy" at this stage might be a little unkind.

Besides, as good as Teller is, without the loud mouth obnoxious guy, isn't he "just another magician"?

"Unkind" for Penn maybe, I don`t know if he could stay in the biz without Teller, but Teller`s novel, skillful act could succed without Penn. After all Silent Mora commanded the public`s attention for many years and we still read about his skill (read Vernon). And when you think about it.... isn`t Teller going against your & my teachings in magic?? The loudmouth obnoxious guy showing off by doing magic tricks? Which one, without the other, would be more entertaining to you?

Sorry for the interruption of the thread.

Both Penn and Teller are fine Magician's and could make a dandy living doing their own thing as individuals (but we all know that anyway).
In many cases opposites attract and in Penn and Teller's case the attraction just makes their act unique. How exciting would Magic be if all Magic acts were basically the same style? Variety is the spice of life and with the Penn & Teller show, we get plenty of seasoning. Smile Smile Smile

Fake Razor Blades? If you're thinking about "eating" razor blades there are a few sources (some you may already have): Tarbell Course in Magic volume 4 lesson 48: Swallowing Needles and Razorblades and Bruce Elliot's book, Secrets of Master Magicians. Anyway, cheeking, loading and ditching are as difficult to do correctly as any other sleight and require hours of practice. Don't let anyone tell you a dulled razorblade can't hurt you, because they're not performing the illusion. The Razorblades are an integral part of my show and I still occasionally get nicked on my tongue or inside my cheek. It comes with the territory like getting burned while eating fire. If you do the illusion correctly though, it really kills 'em!
