Hehe, I only have Dear Mr. Fantasy. It’s funny it seems new to so many people here. Looks like it’s been published 5 or 6 times now.

For anyone that is keeping track. I believe these are all the sources for Power of Poker:

- Dear Mr. Fantasy (book, 2004)
- Bullets After Dark (DVD, 2009)
- Z Shufflin’ (booklet, 2012)
- High Caliber (book, 2013)
- Penguin LIVE Lecture (download, 2016)
- Move Zero Volume 4 (DVD, 2018)
- Power of Poker (download, 2020)

Let me know if I missed any.

About a month ago in Blackpool I picked up the 4-disc box set of Move Zero for 30 pounds. An absolute bargain, I think. As stated above, Power of Poker is on dvd 4. It is re-shot to higher standards, the explanation is top notch and there are some minor changes or new insights if you wish. All in all, money well spent. I really like this routine, along with several others in the dvds.

I quite liked this...

I think the prediction is needed - mainly because its all apparently random choices, so there's a chance that both hands are nonsense...

I also think this needs to be reframed a bit - more of a demonstration that says "this is why you don't play poker with a mind-reader (insert label here)"...I also think you should give them the dollar as a thanks so they can buy a scratchcard, pop it in a fruitmachine or something...

Excellent suggestions, Iain. Thanks for posting them.

I don't see the appeal of the final prediction, aside from rubbing it in the face that you win they lose

So then have it so that THEY win!

Or have a $100 note in an envelope that appears to go to the winner but a writing indicates that the prize goes to a charity of the winners choice. On the back of the writing it a photo of a beautiful woman who's name is Charity.
How many magicians does it take to change a lightbulb? Regardless, for magicians darkness is a time for d'lite.

The problem with having them win is they are looking at their cards as the trick progresses, if they see they are gradually getting a royal flush then the trick has nowhere to go. Sure you could do it with the specs not seeing their card but then that will affect the final choice they make on the last 2 cards

Great points Cham! So then I would consider adding a fun twist to the game by having a rule printed on the back of the "Poker hands" card.
"IF PARTICIPANT DRAWS A FULL HOUSE, SWITCH CARDS WITH DEALER.

Now I am liking this effect even more!

Check out Josh Jay's video "Talk About Tricks", Volume One. He demonstrates and teaches a far nicer version (in my opinion) of this effect titled "242 Deal" - which is a creation of Richard Vollmer.

You'll be happy you did.

242 is definitely a good one.

Use ten old sepia photographs and you have a knockout Living & Dead effect.
Use the FORCE Luke.

Thank you sudo, this one must have slipped under my radar. Can you put a figure on how much of the material on the DVD is self-working?

John Bannon has always been one of my favorite creators and this is a fabulous effect. I learned this routine in Dear Mr. Fantasy and I have performed this in several casino night shows (back when I used do them on occasion). It always played very well.
