Cody Fisher is certainly one of my favorite performers and often puts out some terrific releases.
So now he is selling his preferred type of repositionable adhesive to be used with tricks such as NFW or Double Backs, etc. It costs $25.00 and if it were to be the end all - be all I could probably justify that expense. But I can't imagine that it is some truly revolutionary and proprietary formula, but more likely just a repackaged version of something already available. If anyone has any experience with it and would care to compare it to the more common (and way less expensive) types that are available I would love to hear your thoughts. https://www.codyfisher.com/product-page/magic-card-wand |

So is this something Cody created or is it something he found in a shop and has rebranded? i.e https://www.murphysmagic.com/Product.aspx?id=64353

Even more if you consider Amazon sells a box of 12 for $5.39

I still recall the day I met Beaker from the Muppets. He said to me "Meep, meep, mee mee mee Meep!", and that has made all the difference.

I wouldn't even object to such extreme mark-ups if it is an obscure substance that Cody discovered in the deepest darkest corners of the internet, but if its a standard, readily available item then that would be atrocious. I honestly do not want to believe that Cody would do such a thing.

I am not quite sure of what I am being accused of? I am not requiring that anyone purchase anything from me. If you have done the research and found a product that you are content with then I am happy for you as you do not need my offering. Feel free to click on the above Amazon link and see just how good that product works for you.
However if you have purchased just about every post it like glue on the market and are still not satisfied then this may be of interest to you. I am offering this product up along with my usual online video instruction outlining its many uses along with some of my own personal tips and ideas. I personally have spent many hours of experimentation, not to mention hundreds of dollars ordering various products on the market that just don't work. A single tube of this should last a VERY LONG time and can be used for hundreds of cards. If another performer (that I knew and trusted to deliver good products to the magic community) had offered this up...and if it had saved me all the time and money I had wasted on experimentation...I would gladly have paid the small fee for all their hard work. If you don't want it...DON'T BUY IT...but don't come on here and start making empty accusations and attacking my character. I only release things that are tried and true and have been tested in the real world...and this is no different. Sincerely, Cody S. Fisher

I don't think anyone's accusing you of anything -- people were just wondering what was special about it given the price differential, and you've now provided some of those details. I think most of us expressed general interest, but we just wanted to know what we were paying for.

I don’t see an accusation.... I see people wondering why this product is much more expensive than others like it. No one so far said they didn’t want to buy it, everyone has said that they don’t understand what they are buying.
Is it the similar substance as the ones sold on amazon? If it isn’t, what are the major differences you have found with your product? Are there any unique benefits to your product? Like, does it last longer before needing to reapply? Can a spectator hold two cards without them separating? A direct comparison would help potential buyers work out whether it’s worth the extra money. The Café is notorious for being mean spirited, and had an anonymous person released this product I think people would have been a bit more upset about it. Based on the previous replies, people have given you the benefit of the doubt, but were unsure of the reasons why it’s more expensive. We all know you have a great track record. |

Fully agree with tomd, we were trying to work out what you were selling when your ad had very minimal information about it. To claim that you have a solution but it costs $25 when you can buy cheaper alternatives for $2.50 (and really, how different can it be?), we all want to make sure we're getting our moneys worth.
Also when you think of how many good effects actually require a sticky back card and how much it will be used (compared to say harry robsons roughing stick), it's a fair amount of money to just sit in a drawer. I use the Zig 2 Way Glue Pen which is good enough for me |

I'm still not clear. Is this just a repackaged version of something already available or not?
Cody generally comes across as a really nice guy but his post here was quite aggressive I thought. |

I do not wish to spend my day commenting on this thread, but now I feel (for whatever reason) that I must justify my previous post.
“Doric” if I may comment on your post…yes I AM generally a “nice guy”. I have tried to help every magician that has ever contacted me. If you were to call the number on my website and wish to speak directly with me I would make myself available to you. I have always “been there” for fellow magicians. No pre-Madonna or ego’s here…I am just a regular guy, performing magic for living, and occasionally offering up products that I honestly feel have value to other magicians. So yes I would consider myself a good person. If you go back and read my post the most aggressive thing I said was, “If you don’t want it, DON’T BUY IT”…which I hardly feel was all that aggressive. “Chamberlain” so my ad contained “minimal information”. I thought it was quite clear as to what you are purchasing. If you have a $2.50 alternative that you are happy with, that is absolutely wonderful my friend. If you are satisfied with the Zig-2-Way glue pens (I am not because they "pop" when you separate the cards) then great, please continue to use that with much success. I am only humbly offering up something that I have found (and experimented with) that I personally find far superior to everything currently on the market. “Tomd” I am not sure how you do not see any accusations in the previous posts. With comments like “His post was quite aggressive”, “Marked up 900%”, and “Do not want to believe that Cody would do such a thing”. I am not sure how you read those posts, but to me they sound fairly accusatory and a little insulting. I have worked very hard and have built up a certain amount of “trust” with magicians who purchase items from my website…And yet all that means nothing when all someone has to do is "suggest" that I am taking advantage of my customers (for no reason at all). The same people that I have literally spent years building a relationship with. The underlying tone of those posts is hurtful... “Animated Puppets” If you have a need to stick (and un-stick) two cards together then I encourage you to purchase the economical alternative that you have listed on your post and let us know how it works…Or perhaps I can save you the trouble, time, and money. I can tell you from personal experience that I have already tried your suggestion. In fact I have spent literally hundreds of dollars ordering every glue, spray, wax, balm, and rub on stick I could find from various countries around the world. The vast majority of them do not work how magicians need them to work. They either stick too well or not well enough. Some leave a sticky residue on both cards, some leave a highly noticeable residues on the cards, some tend to have an auditory “pop” when you separate them, some work very well at first…Then you leave the deck alone for a week and come back only to find they are actually permanently suck together. There are so many factors that don’t really matter for the common population user but that do matter for magician’s needs and I have thoroughly done my experimentation and homework. Finally, I am a bit confused as to why anyone would even care if this is something that I made from the ground up in a laboratory (However I do have a biochemistry degree you know) or just something that I have discovered from years of experimenting with every available option. When you purchase a can “Rough King” brand spray for roughing cards…Isn’t this just something that someone discovered in a different industry and then brought it to magicians? When you purchase the various roughing sticks or roughing balms, aren’t these just one particular brand of violin rosin that that someone has discovered and then brought to magicians? When you purchase Michael Ammar’s “Card On Ceiling Wax” do you really believe it is something that he mixes together and hand makes? Or possibly…And I am going out on a limb here…Just maybe it is nothing more than a wax that he simply found already on the market…And after he thoroughly tested it and compared it to many other wax’s…He decided to package it up and make it available to the rest of us…So we don’t have to do all the work…And we gladly purchase it from Michael (I know I do!)…Why…Because he has a proven track record and I trust him to deliver a quality product based on his experience. I will end this message like I did my previous message but in the nicest way possible. If you already have something that you are 100% satisfied with then you do not purchase this. However if you are not satisfied with your available options (and there are many)…And if you don’t want to spend your time and money experimenting with various products…And finally if you have purchased from me in the past and know that I offer up a ton of value and experience in my online product video tutorials…The perhaps…Just maybe…This could actually save you money in the long run… I have said all I am going to say on this matter…Have a happy Sunday everyone…Oh and don’t forget about daylight savings time!!! Respectfully, Cody S. Fisher

I'm looking for options for money magic (sticking 2 different dollar amounts together) that may work better than the regular glue stick and a warm bath afterwards. As to the rest of the thread, this is the Magic Café and the Latest Greatest section at that. Products are put through the wringer here to see if they really do what they say they do. Some do add barbs from time to time but that is also the nature of the beast. Compared to most of the threads on here this one is rather passive. I wish you the best with your product release.

Hi Cody,
Just to clarify -- since I was the one who said "marked up 900?" line that you suggested was an attack -- there's a question mark at the end. I put the "?" there, because to me that denoted that I *doubted* this was just the same old elmer's repositional glue, because I didn't feel that would make sense. So it wasn't an attack -- it was an attempt to suggest that I believe you must have found something better, more worthwhile. It was in support of you, not against. In retrospect, I can see how one might read it as an attack, but that was not at all my intention, as I noted with my second comment. Either way, I'm looking forward to checking out what you've got here -- though I still wouldn't mind some clearer explanation of what is actually included and why it is superior. You have said a few times that if you've found something that works to keep buying that, but what I'm trying to understand is *why* yours might be better, because I'm certainly open to a better offering out there for a wide variety of effects. |

First off I would like to thank everyone who contacted me privately concerning this. I sincerely appreciate everyone’s civility both in private messages and on this public forum.
Hindsight I could have given a little more detail about this so my apologies. I guess I just assumed that people who purchase my products knew that I always give a ton of information in my online tutorials for all my product releases. In any case, here is a small sample of what you will learn from my online tutorial: • A Brief History Of Magicians Sticking Cards Together • A Comparison Of o Wax o Roughing Spray o 3M Sprays o Post-It Spray o Double Sided Tape o Plasti-Dip o Zig 2-Way Pens o Roughing Sticks o Roughing Balms o Science Friction o Re-Positional Glues • Pros & Cons Of Various Products (I Do Not Speak Negative Of Anyone’s Product) • The Magic Card Wand o How To Apply It To Cards (Many Different Ways Explained) o How To Correctly Separate Cards (Several Different Ways Explained) • The Tricks Section o Red Hot Momma / Chicago Opener Variations o HER Card / HIS Card (Cody’s KILLER Stand Up Version Of Chicago Opener) o The FRED Trick o The ONLY Card That Will Work (Cody’s Stand Up Card Routine For Family Shows) o X Marks The Spot / Plus Variations (Card Force I Published In 2001 in MUM) o Jean Boucher’s “Dark Card” (Explained With His Kind Permission) This is the basic outline (from memory) of the online tutorial…I am still in the process of editing all the video…But this is most of what is on there so far. Anyway, I hope this clears up any misunderstandings. I truly feel like this project is something that has needed to be done and gathering all this information has been tedious to say the least. In the end, I am happy with the results and I think that purchasers will be as well. Sincerely, Cody S. Fisher

IMHO Cody Fisher is one of our good and honest members. We have not met (yet) but I have a number of his products and each and every one of them
have been workers. I am sure this is not a rehash of something mentioned in Tarbell .... or is it? (Question mark used so I could say that I am not attacking LOL)
