On the application form for the IBM contest acts it says:

No pyrotechnics, confetti or glitter of any type may be used in the IBM Gold-Medal Competition Act.
Any usage will result in disqualification. NO EXCEPTIONS!

My question is:
What is the policy about the use of fire/confetti/glitter by the performers/pros on the evening shows?

I think, for instance, of Lance Burton's opening effect when he tosses fire into the air and it changes to a dove, or when he lights a length of flash string and it changes to a scarf, or when a flame travels the length of his walkingstick. Or Del Ray's act when fire leaps from his table. Or Cardini's act when fire leaps from his hands and surprises him.

Does the committee that books pros for the evening shows feel that the pros are more responsible/careful about the use of fire than some of the contestants might be?

Also, the ban on confetti in contests suggests that most "Snowstorm in China" routines would not be permitted in contest acts.
