Always intrigued by these things! So something I think would be valuable for potential purchasers (we know we're getting an envelope)... Does it get used up in performance or not? What size is it?
What issues did you see with pre-existing envelopes that you feel that your envelope solved? All the best, Dan |

The envelope to me was secondary, the routine was my first development. However, over time using different methods and envelopes etc I came up with my own envelope which worked perfectly for my Dangerously Safe Opener. It allowed me to create the envelope very easily when needed with very few materials, and also most importantly.. It allowed me to do the routine completely hands off without every touching anything at anytime during performance. 6 left btw! |

This looks like a great routine. For your act, how many minutes would you say you get from it? And do you mostly use that presentation (in the video)?

What I mean by that, is I introduce the option in the very beginning and give someone in the audience a choice. I come back to them throughout the show and give them chances to change their mind. Then at the very end finish the routine. So I roughly get about 10 minutes in total. I also use it a lot for an extremely clean version of Colin Cloud’s Bookless Booktest. |

This seems weird.
"This is Dustin Dean’s reputation maker that he has used to open and close his shows for the past 5 years. He is finally sharing his best-kept secret with the magic community! " And you are only going to make $350 out if it? Man, if I had something I used to both open and close my shows for 5 years and it was my best kept secret I'd want more than 350 for it! |

Looks great.
Manos Kartsakis does a very similar routine with bags and a brick. What are the advantages of your routine!?

It’s based off of their premise of the “Safe Opener” and the “Dangerous Opener.” Mine has the advantage of being completely hands off, no double speak, and it’s more than that routine. I provide a different ideas to use my gimmicked envelope. P.S. 3 left! |

I should also mention that I go over different applications in the instructional video which goes into things suitable for close-up, parlor, corporate, etc.
At its very basic core, this is a 2-way out envelope that you never touch. So your imagination can run wild with different applications. For example, I’ve done it for parlor using 2 paper bags and one has a spike in it. I’ve also used two envelopes one with a check inside from a corporate client, one envelope gets ripped up at the end. I’ve predicted a gender reveal at a party close-up. So it’s extremely versatile. This is more than a routine, it’s an utility item! |

It looks like Dustin and I were inspired by the same people and created two routines that look quite similar but couldn't be more different in method and execution (based on the description and from what I can see in the video). Out of respect for the creator, I will not analyse my routine in this thread. Let's keep this about his creation. If anyone wants to ask any questions about my routine in order to see the differences you can either visit the UnVeil book thread or send me a personal message.
Have a great day everyone and stay safe. |

Looks like I missed this. Looking forward to the release!
Every problem contains the seeds of its own solution. Unfortunately every problem also contains the seeds of an infinite number of non-solutions, so that first part really isn't super helpful.

Hey Dustin,
Could you please help me understand this better? I'm still not sure what exactly happens on stage from the spectator's point of view. Could you please explain that in a couple of sentences? In Colin's routine it's simple: a spectator verbally chooses one of two bags. Colins smashes it and it turns out in the other one is broken glass. Simple and straightforward (like any good plot). Maybe I'm thick, but I don't see how using an envelope with a prediction fits into to this plot. And how the prediction relates to having somebody opening the bag over your head. Thanks in advance!

On Mar 28, 2020, The Unmasked Magician wrote: The idea of using an envelope comes from Luke Jermay’s Dangerous Opener. Which is what Colin’s Routine, the Safe Opener, is based off off and predates his routine. My routine combines both ideas and and changes the presentation and method to allow for a completely hands off routine that also eliminates any ideas of using a magicians force. When it comes to Colin’s, even though yes it is straightforward, (and I love him to death) it is much less fooling. It’s not a prediction inside the envelope, it’s a set of instructions that are made before the show. This means, that to the audience there is no possible way for me to change what happens depending on what they choose. Please watch this full routine to get a better idea. This was a Fool Us submission so I altered how I usually perform it in my act.. I normally choose someone to make a decision and give them chances to change their mind throughout the show. But this might give you a clearer idea: https://youtu.be/wnocCLCawI4 |

Ah, now I get it! Thanks! I don’t know Luke’s routine, so I had no reference.
That is indeed very clean and very hands off! Great thinking!
