Hmmmm;

I am not overly concern with a single effect that openly displays a c/s.
- does Anniversary Waltz "expose" a double sided card?
- does a washer w/o a hole expose Sankeys effect?
:
- I think that this type of exposure is different than exposing a TT, or a key ring - things that rather directly give away a *method*
The C/S itself does not give away the method of your effect, nor do I think it does for other such effects (others may disagree on that)

Yet, some thoughts
- such use of a C/S may spoil other effects that you do during the same performance (unless you convert it back?)
- I think the potential "damage" would be lessened if the C/S was produced "magically" (before being "split)
(such as at the end of a different effect - you could turn a C & a S into a C/S)
OR, had some other rationale for how you came to own such a funny coin.
> along that line, I had toyed with a hopping half type of routine that used a story of star crossed lovers that wanted to be together, but couldn't, until there was a wedding, and they became "one flesh" (as the Bible talks about)

So, that's my 51C's worth (a half plus an EP)

I think it all works in this context. I remember Harry Lorayne in an effect exposing the use of a Slip Cut. He explained it within the context of the trick as showing something he would never do or didn’t like using. I thought what he did worked in that specific context, though he did actually show how the Slip Cut is done to the spec. But of course, as Vinny does here as well, it is used as a ruse to go another way altogether.

I agree -- maybe some kind of "fusion" effect - let them see they're really fused, then do the split.

If you don't want to expose the copper/silver coin, you COULD tarnish one side of a copper coin so that it darkens to a green and black state, and polish the other side to a new, high shine.

Then, have a matching shiny copper coin, and a matching corroded copper coin.

You can write patter that references time, corrosion, etc.

The advantage of this is that it wouldn't spoil any further copper/silver effects.
