I just thought I'd share something I had hidden in my notes that I wrote four years ago.
A pool of light is glistening off a small natural colored table positioned left of middle of center center. Placed upon the table (alter) is a white candle (white for purity) positioned at the upper right hand corner. Directly behind the candle is a small scrap of flashpaper. In the center of the table is an incense burner shielding a pre-folded, pre-cut red pentacle from the audience's view. To the left of this is the prepared tissue paper for the pentacle cut. On the edge closest to the magi and parallel to the candle is a matchbox with a match pre-placed to its side. The music begins setting the mood but does not complete it. The magi glides across the floor from stage left and stops at the table, smiles (once)and begins. (Picks up the piece of tissue paper begins to fold, paper has been prefolded.) One of the most powerful and important Pagan symbols used by witches and ceremonial magicians alike... The Pentagram: (The paper now folded is held in the out-stretched left hand. The right hand moves to the trouser pocket to take the scissors within.) A five pointed star within a circle representing the four mystical and ancient elements of fire (the first cut is made), water, air,(cute two is made, the scissors replaced in pocket) and earth, surmounted by the Spirit (the pentagram falls open and is revealed). It is believed that bearing such a symbol (held outwardly) will help open one's mind to the mysteries of magick, increase ones senses, and protect against evil spirits and all negative forces, as well as strengthen one's spellcasting powers. (The pentacle is placed flat on the table.) In order for a symbol of this nature to take on its power, a ritual must be performed—but not on just any night. (The matchbook or box is picked up by the left hand, a match is lit with the right and moves to light the candle.) On a night when the moon is waxing on a Tuesday or Saturday midnight (the incense is placed in the flame), when incense burns pure dragons blood, that's when you perform the ritual (the incense is replaced in its holder and the red pentacle is in the right hand fingerpalm). That is when the charm takes on its power. (Picks up the pentacle again in his left hand and looks directly at audience.) (The pentecle is refolded as follows:) Be ye far from us, all hostility, deceit, and illusion; In the name of ABDIA. (Fold one) Be ye far from us, all estrangement, deception, and speciousness; In the name of BALLATON.(Fold Two) Be ye far from us, all negation; In the name of BELLONY, (Fold three) HALLIY, (Fold Four) AND HALLIZA. (Fold Five) Oh pentacle of power (folded in half) Be thou fortress and defense to and against all foes, (Folded down and switched taken into the left hand) Visible and invisible, In every magical work. (The white ‘decoy tip’ of the red tissue paper is cut and the paper instantly /visibly changes to red as the white tip flutters to the floor.) So Mote it be! (Revealed for a second time, but now the pentagram has changed. It is now blood red.)The charm is now charged. This symbol, commonly associated with evil, it is in fact pure and undiminished. Even when inverted, promoting the dark side of the craft, it is inline with no demand, nor iniquity for there is no evil in the craft. (The pentacle is again folded and switched but this time with a white pentacle cut from flashpaper.) If this symbol were to lose its cross bars (a cut is made at he tip of the folded bunch) it would become uncharged and useless to both the light and dark practitioner.(Unfolded and revealed again as a white uncharred pentacle.) However, as long as each cross bar remains, those who use it will improve their spiritual energy. And after all Phantoms are banished, thou shalt perceive that holy formless flame, That fire which darts and flashes through the hindered depths of the universe; HEAR THOU, THE VOICE OF FIRE! (The heat of the candle sets the pentacle into flames.) After the great flash of light has subsided, the magi is no where in sight. The stage is empty as it was in the beginning. -George Tait |

Are you dealing with a pentagram or a pentacle or both?
Could you pick a spelling for "pentacle," please? "Magi" is plural for "magus" or "mage." This may seem very picky, but spelling is important. If you start misspelling words in your rituals, you may wind up producing a lightning bug instead of lightning.

I should have proof read the above before posting. I agree spelling is quite important, especially when it comes to rituals. Thinking back this is actually almost seven years old now.-George Tait

Might that be a spelling bug and a broken circuit?

George:
I like this idea. If I have your permission, I'd like to rework this for my own ceremonial use. Heck I might even try it out at a Pagan/Wiccian Coffee house... yes, I do know one as I live next to Salem, Massachusetts. I'll post the version I come up with. One idea which popped into my head was somehow incorporating Dan Harlan's Starcle with this effect. Also, your avatar looks very familiar. Did you by chance attend the last Phoenix Gathering? Work matey! A good, visual bizarre routine suitable for stage work! Keep up the good work.
