Does anyone know if John Jurney is still making coins? I ask because I have emailed him a couple of times and no response? Also, every item but a couple accessories are out of stock on his website. I have contacted a couple of his retailers (Stevens Magic)and they don't have any the Eisenhower/Casino Chip Sets, nor are they expecting any. If anyone knows of a retailer with current stock of his items, please let me know. I'm have been working with my Transient Coins, using material from Craig Petty and Gregory Wilson (excellent performer/teacher) I'm just looking to expand my knowledge/skill and the visual change looks interesting. -Jon

Most concerning. I own John Jurney’s fantastic gaffed Coin Coalition set, but his instructional videos are only available on Vimeo for streaming (not downloadable to store on our own devices for posterity, nor on DVD, so I fear for their continuing availability).

As a coin magic beginner, I have a LOT to learn from those videos, so I worry lest someday they cease to be available via online Vimeo streaming.

That's one reason I won't knowingly buy anything that has "streaming only" content.
Not that one couldn't use a screen recorder or simply point their phone at the screen, but why should we have to?

One exception -- something like Reel Magic where it's a subscription to a large content library - there's no expectation or need of continued access as there is with instructions to purchased effects.

Stevens Magic now has both the Eisenhower and Chip effect.

Everything of John Jurney’s is also out of stock at Stevens, except for his split quarter.

I also sent JJ an email inquiry, via his website, but also received no reply.

I hope he's doing ok. With all this virus going on who knows. Maybe he's been busy at his main job. I've got his casino chip set and I love it. Not to long ago I lost the instruction video download and he responded back with the instructions.

I'm sorry I meant to say streaming video. I like my own copy where I can view it any time. I see a lot of Magicians are streaming these days but I rather have the dvd or download.

Me too. I actually emailed him specifically to ask if his video instructions for Coin Coalition — normally only available via streaming on Vimeo — might be available as a permanent download or a DVD (which I’d happily pay for). No reply, so yes, hope he’s okay.

Good news to report: after some time away, John Jurney is now back up and running again. He reports that he will have some more Coin Coalition sets this week, and Casino Chip sets by the end of the month. (He was even kind enough to personally send me the instructional video files I’ve still been unable to download from Vimeo.)

He further welcomes email inquiries from those who may wish to contact him at jjmagiccoins@comcast.net.

This is really good news!! For anyone who does already own either coin coalition or the Eisenhower/casino chip set, I had a quick question. It looks from the pictures on the website like these triple s***t coins don't use any t****n? I wondered about how silent these gaffs would be to use?

Thanks and BW

I own both the JJ Eisenhower/Casino chip set and Johnny Wong's Eisenhower/teflon Chinese coin set. The Johnny Wong set is pretty much silent. The JJ set does exhibit a slight bit of scraping sound when separating the coins and, if you let the coins rejoin rapidly (which you shouldn't need to do during a performance), there's a bit of scraping/clatter sound too.

HOWEVER, the noise from the JJ set is still not something that your spectators will hear under normal performance circumstances. If you perform in a dead silent room with the spectator only 2 feet from you, then maybe he'll hear something. But, in real world performance situations, the noise is NOT a factor.

In my humble opinion, the all-too-frequent sticking (coins don't want to separate) that happens with the Johnny Wong teflon set is a MUCH bigger concern than the minimal noise of the JJ set.
