Ian Hamilton is about to release a download on penguin which is very appropriate for these times. It doesn't teach a single trick, but what it teaches may be the single most important thing you learn right now. Ian generously sent me the project to look over, and I really liked what I saw.
The Lockdown Project is a series of videos which teach you everything you need to know about how to run a multiple camera live virtual magic show. All of the software Ian uses is free to download and he even shares a really cool zoom alternative which is free and allows up to 35 people in at a time! (Worth the price right there.) Ian has done all of the hard work of finding the various programs and learning how to use them. He walks you through step-by-step which programs you need to download and how to set everything up for a multiple camera switcher. It allows you to do just about anything you could want. Ian teaches you how to make a DSLR Camera and an iPhone into a live streaming webcam. This program could take several cameras, but Ian teaches it as a main camera and a closeup camera. Ian walks you through how to do picture within a picture (with two different camera angles,) put your logo on the video, have a countdown timer before the show, how to use your phone as a remote switcher, and even how to screen share your phone with the live for effects such as DFB, Toxic force, etc. If you have been wanting to get into doing virtual shows but have felt overwhelmed with how to make it professional, you need this! This is the type of information a pro would sell you for hundreds and hundreds of dollars and you would be thanking them. When Ian told me the price of this, I gasped! $9.99! Are you kidding!? $9.99 is all you need to instantly learn everything you need to know about a virtual show without the hours and hours of trial-and-error. When this is available, I highly encourage you to pick it up--but only if you intend on doing a live virtual show with multiple cameras. If you don't want to do a live virtual show, or if you just want to use one camera on a tripod with no bells or whistles then this may not be for you. If you're looking to take your virtual shows to the next level, this is what could do it. Madison |

I would definitely be interested in seeing more about this. As I was reading I was thinking it would be an expensive endeavor but when I saw $9.99 at the last paragraph I was shocked. I'll be keeping my eye out for this one

Ian Hamilton has created a comprehensive guide to setting up and using software to maximise the impact on your online videos, these instructions have saved me hours of research and saved me from making loads of mistakes.
These videos are great, concise and to the point. |

Yea, I get that quite often.
I used to be an ET on a Boomer (in other words, I was an Electronics Technician on a Ballistic Missile Submarine). For Lockdown Project, there's also a Facebook group. Dave |

I just finished watching the lock down project today. I have my first Zoom show next week and was worried about making it look professional. But after watching this video I am very confident that it is going to look great.
Ian explains everything really well and all the links to the software needed are included with the download. I really liked the picture in picture effect as you can talk to your audience face to face as well as keeping one camera shot on the props. This is essential for doing any kind of prediction where you don't want the reveal being out of sight at any time. It took me maybe 2 hours to watch, download and run everything needed for an online show. I used my cell phone and an old tablet as well as my webcam for camera angles. I really like how you can switch between each camera angle so easily making it look even more professional. Highly recommend this to anyone who is putting together an online show or magic over Zoom. |

I'll add my recommendation, and thanks to Ian for figuring everything out so we don't have to. He clearly explains how to put together free software and cheap hardware to produce a professional online show. The emphasis is on combining multiple video sources, including using your phone or still camera as a webcam, displaying an app from your phone, and doing picture-in-picture (e.g. showing your face and your close-up pad at the same time). He speaks briefly about lighting and sound, but most of the videos are about video.
He's in a small town in Spain cut off from Amazon during lockdown, so there's kind of a MacGyver feel. His presentation is technically proficient, but he can get a little long-winded since he's not following a script. The videos are therefore longer than they need to be, but some will find that helpful. In addition to eight video segments, you get a PDF with links to everything you need to download. There's also a Facebook group for further discussion and tips. For less than $10, this is a no-brainer if you want to produce online shows, because it will save you hours of figuring out software combinations and settings. |

I'm in agreement, this is a fantastic value.
In less than a couple hours, using things I already had at home, I was up and recording myself. Not only is this a great project for LIVE shows, but for recording yourself while practicing. And on top of that, Ian and others have posted additional links on the Facebook group for advanced lighting topics, green screens and others. Dave |

The ad copy for this almost makes it sound opportunistic, because it seems to geared to capitalize on our current circumstances.
On the other hand, it's a smart move, because there is a real need here. And judging by the reviews and comments so far, Ian Hamilton has done a good job in stepping up to the plate - good for him! |

The info is worth 5 times what it is being sold for. I had no idea about being able to do a multi cam/ transition option from a home pc and being able to switch to any camera by one touch from ur phone is excellent.

This is a project and tuition for our times as of now. That is if you are interested in working online shows. Ian has laid it all out very well and will save you (it did me) many hours of trial and error in getting to what works...works.
I wasn't interested (as a busker) in doing online shows as I felt it could be a bit flat, not having that LIVE in situ energy, but in going through the videos Ian has produced creating an online experience for an audience now seems well within my grasp Really well put together. Kudos |
