These are with the JN Finish printed by EPCC in China, and decks with that finish are known for clumping much more quickly than a USPCC deck. They tend to fan and spread nicely out of the box, but it doesn't usually last.

What can you tell us about these? People also reported this issue with the Vintage Feel Jerry's Nugget decks in blue and red, and since these are with the same JN finish, I guess it's the same deal here?

Any word on longer-term use of these?

Unfortunately David hasn't replied to my request (here and on another site where he posted his video) for clarification about this either. I decided to pick up these decks anyway, since I'm a big fan of the Jerry's Nuggets story. I have been using the yellow deck intensely the last four days. Here is my experience with it:

My first reaction was how much I enjoyed the feel of the card stock of these Vintage Feel Jerry's Nugget decks. From the box, they performed smoothly and handled very well. They have a traditional cut, and faro shuffles were easy and flawless. Fans and spreads continued to be even and consistent over the first two days of heavy (and I mean heavy!) use.

One thing that immediately struck me was that the edges have a rougher feel, similar to that of USPCC cards. That's unusual for an EPCC-produced deck, which is normally super smooth. As a result, these decks feel much more like a regular Bicycle deck than most EPCC decks do.

There are several important ways it feels different from a Bicycle deck:

1. The card stock is slightly thinner than usual. From what I've read, each card has been crushed .01mm thinner than a normal EPCC deck with Master finish. This equates only to the thickness of a single card over the course of an entire deck, but experienced card handlers will almost immediately be able to tell the very slight difference in feel.

2. The cards feel slightly stiffer than a Bicycle deck. They have a pleasant snap to them, holding their shape well, making them especially nice for performing flourishes like springs.

3. The cards have a much smoother feel than a standard Bicycle deck. Yet there's enough embossing to ensure the cards glide over each other smoothly, without being overly slippery.

4. The cards have a coating that makes them less slippery than a Bicycle deck, and so they packet together particularly well. Especially under slight pressure, the cards stick together nicely.

All in all, I can see why the label "JN Finish" is a good fit for these. For people coming from Bicycle decks, the transition to these is smaller than it would be from a Bicycle deck to EPCC's Master Finish, which has cards with a similarly smooth feel, but thicker and stiffer cards. And yet the Vintage Feel Jerry's Nuggets do definitely feel different enough from a Bicycle deck, especially as a result of the thinner card-stock and smoother feel - noted hallmarks of the original Jerry's Nuggets.

I've been using the yellow deck, and really love the full colour of it as well. It matches the yellow on the faces nicely, and the large amounts of colour make it very vibrant, especially for card flourishing.

After two more days of intense use, I'm starting to see real evidence of clumping as the coating starts to wear, making the cards much less slippery and more inconsistent. So unfortunately, with heavy usage, fanning and spreading definitely suffers, and this also affects the ease of doing sleights like an Erdnase change. This is fairly typical of many EPCC decks, due to the coating they use, and these decks are no different.

However the cards do keep together well in packets. And adding some pressure has similar effect to the rough-and-smooth of an invisible deck, which also means that double lifts are very clean.

So do be aware that the handling will change quite significantly over time, and it really depends on how you plan to use the deck as to the impact of this for you personally.
