I've had Sharpshooter for a couple weeks now. When I first got it, I went right to the CT section, printed those pages out and set out to learn yet another CT.

I finally had time and sat down and read through the entire book yesterday. Don't get this for the CT. Get this for all the other information in it. It's like a Master Class on how to be a mentalist. This information could be applied to p**k wallets, *mp devices or whatever you use to get information. You will learn what information to ask for, how to glean other information from that, how to take your audience on a journey into discovery and how to make them care about what you're doing.

I almost missed all this information because all I was interested in was the CT.

I really think this is an important book that needs to be printed out and gone over with a highlighter and different colored pens and left on the desk to read and read again.

Sharpshooter is a gamechanger and in time I think will be included in the same breath as 13 Steps when people ask for recommendations on what books they should get and study from.

It's very gratifying to see other people figuring out what the book is about. I am obviously bias: I think the CT is outstanding for many reasons. But we called it The Sharpshooter SYSTEM because the techniques can be applied to many different routines -- and that was the idea from the beginning. From the start it was intended to be a very different kind of mentalism book.

There is a new hardcover edition of The Sharpshooter System. It's been published by Stevens Magic.

We wanted it to be special, so this edition has three full sections on how to incorporate individual readings into the options you offer a client. There is also information on how to get started with cold reading in a way that is 'safe' (okay safeR) than any traditional methods. I also share my whole script for doing individual readings.

I know it's been selling very well -- and would welcome any thoughts or discussion from those who have read it.

Sorry to have taken so long to respond, Stunninger. It's been a busy summer and summer hasn't even really started yet. Mark Stevens tells me the book has been available for several weeks. He's just ordered a pile of new copies, so it's doing really well.

I purchased Sharpshooter back in May 2025, and rather than rush to comment, I've spent the better part of nine months properly living with it, studying it, setting it aside, returning to it, and most importantly, using it in the real world.
What David has created here is not just another CT handling, it is a complete, well-thought-through working system.
The mechanics are beautifully structured and feel entirely natural in performance. From every angle it is deceptive, yet in the hands it feels simple and unforced.
The access to the secretly aquired information is direct and practical, not contrived, not fiddly...this alone makes this project worth serious consideration, even to those who already use this, or other covert information gathering techniques.
For me, the core methodology stands among the strongest approaches to this principle that I have encountered in my 30+ years in this field.
However, in my humble opinion, the real gold lies in how to use the information once you have it.
David goes deep into presentation, thought revelation, behavioural nuance, and the subtleties that turn a method into a moment.
This isn't theory detached from reality, it is real and practical worker' material from someone who clearly performs consistently and understands audiences.

I was talking with Sheree (my partner) the other day and we were discussing the moment when we'd finally finished the method explaining how to do Sharpshooter (methods are harder to explain than most people think) and we looked hard at each other.

"We're not...ummm...actually done," I said.

She looked at me for a long moment. Then she nodded. So I went back to work. (After all -- we were in the midst of all that Cov*d nonsense and had nothing better to do.)

That's where the rest of the book came from: how to handle the reveal with maximum impact. What to watch for. Cues the volunteer gives -- and all the ways that a reveal can blend with a cold r***ing to create something greater than the original sum of its parts. I'm really proud of this book.

We made an expanded section for the hardcover version we released through Steven's Magic, outlining my system for learning cold re***ng which is available only in the hardcover edition. I'm proud of that too.
