What an episode we have this week! Michael Close is an extraordinary magician as evidenced by his many achievements over the decades. He was one of the house magicians beginning in 1978 at Max & Erma's restaurant then in 1989 he began at "Illusions" in Carmel, Indiana. Later after moving to Las Vegas in 1998, he traveled the U.S. with his lecture and became the resident magician at the Houdini Lounge the Monte Carlo Casino and Hotel. Throughout this time, he was a pianist and made much of his living as a musician. He authored the pivotal series for the serious restaurant worker, entitled "Workers" which was a series of books that later were produced as a DVD set.
In 1995 Michael became the product reviewer for MAGIC Magazine and later was hired as the editor-in-chief of the M.U.M. journal for the S.A.M. For the past several years, Michael has continued performing his music and also consulting in magic. He and Johnny Thompson were the consultants for "Penn & Teller Fol Us" television show until the recent passing of Johnny leaving Michael as the sole magic consultant as they move into their seventh season. Michael talks about all of this and much more with delightful stories on this week's episode. Another talent of Michael is that he has wrote an excellent joke book “That Reminds Me: Finding the Funny in a Serious World”. The book has jokes and funny stories with his close friends. Most of the friends are from the greatest magicians around in the likes of Jay Marshall, Aldo Colombini, Jerry Camaro, Penn Jillette, Bob Read and others.... do not pass this up. It is hilarious and a fun read.
