I was wondering does anyone have a set of these cups. These cups look nice in the picture. It kinda looks like a set of Paul Fox cups. I'm starting out on the cups and balls and this looks like a good set. Thanks for any input.

I have a set...not sure if it's same as I got them years ago, but they look like them, and are aluminum. They're good for learning moves, but are very lightweight and prone to getting dings and dents. They are not great for performing outside as wind will knock them over. And, depending on routine and style, they will get dings if you hit with wand or drop them on ground.
A few years ago a small gift shop that had magic counter closed, and I was able to get set of small copper covered "chop" cups. The gimmick was in the balls, not the cups, and the cups had double beads, so stack like other Cups & Balls sets. But they're smaller and great for strolling. Be on the look out for deals like this...keep eye on Craigslist. This fathers day I got a set of Jumbo Brass Cups from Magic Makers off of eBay. They're monsters...same size as Gazzo Cups, and so much heavier. But solid as a rock. The seller threw in a very nice hardwood wand with brass tips and a DVD. All for $170. More than I'd pay, but family thought I was worth it...or tired of hearing me talk about wanting a jumbo set of cups. They look very nice, but know they won't get same nice patina as a copper set. Bottom line...aluminum cups would be good to start and for occasional performances. But if you end up doing it a lot, you'll probably want to upgrade.

I started with an aluminum set but when I finally broke down and bought a brass (or copper, I don't remember) it was like learning the moves all over. The heavier cups are far better than light aluminum. I eventually got rid of them and only do a 2 cup routine (Leo Smetsers' "Bell Cups" with the Tommy Wonder routine). They are heavy and ring like a wonderful bell. I do use a large Don Alan Chop Cup in aluminum but the moves for my routine aren't changed by the cup weight.
Nothing against using aluminum to see if you really like/want a good cups and balls set to perform with. If you don't like, or want to pursue, it - you are not out a couple hundred bucks. 💸

I think the aluminum cups from Murphy's magic are really well made and if you are a beginner in cups and balls I would recommend Nick Trost Routine from Daryl's Cups and Balls series. I was fortune it to find a copy of Nick Trost cups and balls booklet.[very hard to find] The thing about his routine that it is slight free but it has a lot going on. I think it is seven phases long. I don't think too people knew Nick Trost had a Cups and Balls Routine in print. I know I sure didn't. I just knew about his card magic.

Great tip Allen. It looks like you can download Daryl's take on Nick's routine here: https://www.penguinmagic.com/p/S20049
