Seems like this is happening more and more often with me. If I'm doing an effect that requires multiple Elmsley counts, inevitably I get a couple of sticky cards. Happens at the most inopportune time. Probably just the environment where the cards get a little dirty quickly. Any tips or tricks to rejuvenate the cards when at a venue? Or even different handling techniques?
Seems like the fingertip method never fails for me, but I would much rather use the more modern method. |

Quick tip on that is if you have access to a fridge/freezer at the venue, put the cards in there for a bit. It can help the stickiness and will also fix the warpiness of the deck that comes from humidity.
Now, instead of tips on making cards less sticky, maybe I can give tips to do an Elmsley Count with stickier cards. Can you be more specific with the problem? When you’re using sticky cards, where is the issue? The first one you peel off sticks with the second? Is the switch the problem? Etc. Yehuda |

I just soap the cards. I do a packet trick that can go horribly wrong if the cards aren't slick, and this works perfectly. Jergens works really well and is easy to find. Just rub the corner of the bar all over the side(s) you want to be slicked.

My recommendation is to carry extra cards with you and change as necessary. Any benefit from cooling the cards will be short-lived in my opinion.
It's never crowded on the extra mile....

Rub both sides of the card on a clean cloth or your pants a few times.
You might also try practicing with a soiled deck. Or carry replacement cards. |
