It’s amazing how so much coin magic came from this. Many if not most first started out from his work, accumulating coin magic and creating a bit of it. Of course there are other great coin books out there but in most cases a lot of what you see today comes from this man and all the wonderful coin men of his day he helped give light to as to their fine works. But his basic approach & building blocks to the art still echoes greatly throughout what we’ve seen over the many years and continue to see today. To some it might not look like much but it is of great essence as to all we have.

Still one of the very best One Coin Routines I’ve ever come across. It remains ultra creative and awe inspiring from one of the very best closeup guys around, that happened to also be one heckuva coin guy too…Now, that’s how you do it!

…And here’s another wonderful take on the One Coin Routine genre that I have admired for years. It’s more of the regular take on the effect, just good old SOH coin magic done exquisitely as only a master like this can bring across, great patter and moves tell the magical story. Like I said, it’s along the lines of the regular ways to do this but creatively put for some on the spot coin magic…

I like when I come across coin men I might never have seen much of before. This is another take on the above effect but with 3 coins and some clever technique…very nicely done. And again, from a coin magician you might not have heard much of but is someone of real recognition somewhere else…Paco Rodas…ever heard of him, or remember him? Well, he certainly belongs here amongst some wonderful others I’ve shown, see for yourself…:)

Hey, how about a nice lecture from a real master at this stuff…I wanted you to see how all this is effectively brought across, and how various One Coin Routines (or tricks) can be. Good to hear from you again, you were always an important part of this forum, a voice of reason and irrefutable research. And yes, I found Eric to be quite special decades ago, and could see his fine abilities, study and engaging presentation to be something a bit unique as to the more regular presentation of coin magic. It was good to see him move up amongst the stars in the genre right from this forum, and then contribute so much good magic to the art far & wide. He certainly is one of a kind, nothing else out there quite like him that I have seen as to his coin magic and way.

Again, it’s good to hear from you old friend, it’s been quite a good while since we met for lunch in the City that day. Hope your kids and family are all well. I’m pretty sure they are as they have a tremendous leader in you. And your moments here are still required reading as to the art. And with that, continued good journey my friend until hopefully one day we meet up again.

Always good to come across this guy and old friend. And I can still remember vividly being surrounded with him in a restaurant at a magic convention in NJ, and him doing this stuff to great amazement right up close, that’s how good he was. It’s still remarkable to see it, the cleverness and technical expertise. This all took coin magic by storm decades ago when he began showing it and developing great recognition & notoriety for it. His usage of it certainly amped creativity up across the world & back. A really fun guy, friend and one heckuva coin man…

I remember watching Mickey do this coin through glass…Just so very clever! I see here he has a non-believer/ heckler whose mind can’t seem to accept his eyes. We all get those types now & again, they just can’t get right and miss the entertainment and wonderment for needing to prove something to themselves and typically mess things up for others. Such is life…takes all kinds. But Mick handles him well. Luckily most people are just flat out amazed.

OK, and thanks for all the PMs regarding my mention of “…just a few coins” in another thread here. I was going to answer each PM about it but decided to make a more open mention here for all…

So,I was speaking of 3 Fly and my version of it, FlySki. Now, I have been carrying around 4 half dollars for decades now, and have worked out a routine going from 1 coin to using all 4 in differing effects. Now, I don’t always go through it that way, often times I just do 1 or 2 effects with the coins, with a particular love for my Boss (Coins) Across and my Pa’s Famous 3 Coin Trick (my version of Gadabout Coins). But sometimes I just do the opening 1 coin bit for people, something I call, “ObbServvve!” *(said in the way Sylvester The Jester would say it when he wanted you to look closely). All of this is from my journey, mixing & matching moves and presentations, but all from just good old SOH and a set of 4 half dollars. I do often carry a dollar size Chinese coin for my favorite, MB Transpo PLUS, but that’s it nowadays…Less is More.

There’s so much out there and I’ve been through a good lot of it over the many years, gaffed and ungaffed, and all of it has its place and can be so much fun to play with, learn from & create with. But with just these 4 halves, you can do an awful lot taking up minimal space in your pockets. You can even keep a set in various pockets, coats, jackets, etc. to be always ready to perform or just practice. I also keep sets around the house to play with while watching TV or listening to music. And I often get into new ways of doing things, or remembering things I might’ve forgotten, like doing my FlySki as the 3rd leg of the set…Nice switch up to do a 3Fly as you don’t see it done much anymore.

So, yeah that’s about what I meant when I happened to say that as to “…just these few coins.”

Well, I must admit this one caught my eye because my grandson is named, Apollo. But boy was I ever glad I stopped to check it out. Not sure you guys have heard of this coin wizard, but he is quite talented from the Phillipines…

Man, glad to be reminded of a wonderful coin and closeup man that came up with some really original magic that was just some wonderful stuff. He belongs here too in a big way…quite an amazing thinker and creator…

Got another good one for you…this is another wonderful magician and real life performer that found time to create a lot of good magic with a particular eye to our part of the art, coin magic.

He’s done some exemplary stuff over a decade or more, and he has also been a regular Cafe member for years, heightening our discussions and lending perspective from his experiences doing this stuff for real people in up-close, personal and most importantly, always fun situations. I really love watching magicians do this stuff the way he does it all the time. He certainly belongs here too as he has created and shared so much good magic, magic thinking and doing.
