There are many great minds in coin magic, and I think Roth tops that list. More than anyone, he expanded the possibilities of coin plots and got everyone's creative juices flowing.
He isn't the only one, but he's the one that opened the door.

Just a beautiful piece of magic.

A little intermission if you will…

I happened across this and my face just lit up…:) it sorta illustrates what I mean about putting more in your repertoire than just coin magic. Now this guy can do it all along with being able to go toe to toe with the best of them with coins as well, just a closeup treasure of a real worker. So glad to call him a dear friend and mentor. Anyway, here he is putting the coins aside for a minute to fool the pants off everybody, including one of thousands that have also been completely fooled by this guy, who then had to show another thousand people just how fooled he was…:)

That is the one, the only, Godfather of Magic, Vinny Marini.

Besides being quite stellar at coin work, he is a more than capable closeup guy, and has spent his time doing magic in the real world. I remember once in NYC many years ago now, where he, I and another wonderful magi named Mano met around the Times Square area at a restaurant. In no time we had the whole place watching out magic. Vinny just stepped right out into the moment and wowed them several presentation, coins, cards a salt shaker on the table. He was wonderful to watch work and was giving us a real tutelage on how you work a crowd. He had the in the palm of his hand, even the manager who got caught up in it as well. Me and Mano did a few things, but Vinny made the evening there. Great time!

It’s always good to see a good coin trick, but one of our creative members here tricked me a bit and went another way on me. Happy he did and think you might just be happy about it too…

Seems like a good time for a story here…A good friend reminded me of this, and I thought to share it (and a bit more here) with you…

All that I have thought as to magic since I was a boy are the things that are spoken of and so beautifully shown here. Now, of course I didn’t better understand all that until I was more grown up, but I seemed to have been on the right track via my journey with this wonderful art. Hiya friends…

Been vacationing a bit here & there but doing a little magic everywhere I went. Hope you all do too.

I was thinking about the influence put out by Ponta The Smith years back and came across his Spellbound routine again. Just some outstanding work. So, there are a lot of good moves here but one I spent a lot of time with is his Toss Change. It really takes some work but I eventually got it down pretty good, and it is an amazing feat to perform for people as the magic is instantaneous. Of course I routined just that part into a little set that allows me to further show that there is only one coin and even hand it out to people to examine after clearly showing both my hands. It is quite stunning to people and as magical as magic can be. It took a while but it’s right at the fingertips now masked by a few of my old moves.

Do you have a move that you really worked on a lot to get it down well?

Then, there's the point of,..'honour' and 'respect',
for what others ARE achieving.
Understanding just WHAT is involved.
Understanding just WHAT they've put into this.

Hey, some new magic from Dr. Shwartz. WHO??? I know, Ive never heard of him either but here he is with some new coin magic or at least something he happened upon.

I like seeing this stuff from wherever it comes because it says that coin magic is still moving, people are still thinking about things and how to make them happen. And it seems to keep coming from the young and old, school kids and even doctors. I like that anybody can be a part of it, maybe figure out a few things, bits & pieces of this & that. You might not always like it but it always suggests that there is a continuous pulse out there in the beyond. Bravo, Dr. Schwartz!

Appreciate your post old friend, and believe me that you have been quite an inspiration to me as to what can be done when you put your mind to it. You are an example of real magic!

This little piece of Ponta’s old One Coin Routine, the “Coin Toss” part is something that I marveled at from the very first time I saw him do it. I knew then it was something I had to learn and put in my arsenal. Well, it honestly wasn’t all that easy to do, and it became a knacky thing at best way before it became fluidly solid in my hands. Still, the practicing of it is what eventually gave it to me. And it is a piece of on-the-spot magic that blows people away. And that you can so simply routine it into a little set makes it a real killer piece of coin magic. Never heard many people speak of it but it’s a real gem of a move Ponta showed us there buried within something else. For me, it was the most unique part of it all.

And hey, recently took my little grandson to tennis practice and showed his coach and students this little coin toss…He loves magic and was completely blown away by it as I came to offer the coin for him to give a try…Noticebaly bewildered, he just kept walking around the court gathering balls and saying, “How is that possible?”

This is such a wonderful piece of routining and creative use of good old SOH. It’s great to come across novel ways to use the sleights we learned in this part of the art. This guy is definitely one of the very best at it and has greatly, humbly contributed again & again to what we love here so much…Absolutely worth his weight in “gold” and then some…

Hope everyone had a good summer. I did a bit of traveling (too much) but also got to do a lot of magic along the way.

And man, always good to see this guy do his thing…just as good as good can get, IMHO.
