I always liked thinking out of the box, just playing around with things and that’s how I guess I sorta came up with this & that along my way. I didn’t necessarily create everything, but more so like to think that I enhanced a thing or two. Sorta like this. You should see people’s faces when I do this… Pure magic! Smile

Sometimes, it don’t take much. Smile

I had a lot of fun with this one around my office and out at company events all over the City. I can still remember meetings with the now U.S. House Minority Leader and it always beginning with, “What do you got for me this time.” Smile

It came from other things, but my way of doing it got some real buzz as to the effect. I actually still carry it in my little coin purse, along with a few other things I like to do. It always makes their eyes POP! And with my little trappings around it, well, just seems impossible still to this day…Here, take a look for yourself…. Smile

And yet another amazing piece of coin magic that is just beautiful to watch happen, and from another wonderful magician you don’t hear much of here, that is as good with coins as the best of them… Man, the subtleties are worth the price of admission. Smile

Wolfgang has the stones to do moves "in the open" that I've spent hours choreographing more covertly. He definitely subscribes to the concept that our brains fill in blanks that our eyes are showing us is real, but our life experience suggests can't be happening. Maybe those hours I've spent aren't necessary after all. K-I-S-S.

Well done by him.

Thanks for sharing, MB.

Here’s another wonderful performer that can also do coin magic as well as anyone you hear about. Creatively elegant in every sense, and shows what it looks like as we progress from there (right above) to here and beyond… It makes me think just why anyone would need cards, as to me this is what it would look like if you could do real magic, but alas, to each his own and all are welcome. Smile

Man, you just can’t ever get tired of this guy. Smile Like I always say, some just don’t tell you the way, they show it to you. And in this one, he shows you something every magician should have in his pocket at the ready to amaze at a moment’s notice. And once again, this is one you can learn well with some practice. He not only teaches the moves but gives you the history of it all, along with his own always amusing presentation…You know him, you love him, and here he is in yet again in a repeat performance that you just can’t help but enjoy… Smile

Well, please tell him that I and many others here are great fans of his wonderful work. Smile

Like you, I’ve sorta immortalized him here in this string because like you he also brings an awful lot to the table, truth be told. This latest installment of his work brings so much with it, as like you, he teaches things with a real flare, stuff really worth learning. I think I’ve posted a few of his works here, and if you never did any more coin magic, the 3 or 4 tutelages he gives are really all you need to have available to you to do some really good coin magic. I mean, I know all this stuff, and I still learn something every time I watch him. Smile

And like you again, he’s not just good with coins, he can do it all, an all-around closeup magician of the highest order. Please tell him of the great & lasting appreciation here. Smile

Came across this and thought you guys might find it interesting. Always nice to check out newcomers and what they do with SOH as to coins. A few nice things here, bits & pieces that have some POP to them. Anyway, here’s something new…What do you think? Smile

Just had to further mention here that I’ve been playing around with this one myself and it is a real dandy of a trick.Smile And so once again….What’s old is new again! I’ve replaced a couple of moves with some others that work just as well. Still, nothing difficult and a little practice makes it smooth. I really like the way Doug presents it with his wedding ring, love the immediacy and misdirection of it all…slick! I go a different way with the last coin in presentation to better interact with the spec replacing the “ready or not” part, and it plays just as well at that point. Oh, and I’ve pulled out my old Morgans for it and it makes a good difference from the half dollar coins, though both coins work well enough.

Al came up with a lot of good stuff. I had forgotten this one but it’s a real good one to remember to give a whirl. Smile

Me too. I had been working on Al's original version of this routine in which he uses the Pop-Up Move and a different version of HPC.

Doug's CP after the clink pass is like voodoo.

Not sure which version I'm going to use, but I'm still working on both. Al's version is much slower and more deliberate. Like nothing unusual is occurring until the magic happens.

You’re right guys, it is very well done. As clever a little coin trick as there ever was, and Doug really makes it sing here. Smile

And nice that it can be done different ways, and that with a little practice, we all can do it too. What a neat little thing to keep in your pocket.

Simplicity at its finest…Just 3 coins and that little cherry on top. Smile

Hey, you know me…If I don’t show you this guy, just who’s gonna show him to you? Smile

It’s amazing how comfortable and confident you can become with simple stuff when you can do it like this, when you can do it for anybody, anytime, anywhere, even at a world contest for the very best. Smile Oh, so clever and so smooth! You’ll blow people away all day doing on-the-spot coin stuff like this. As Jim Carey would say, “SMOKING!”

So yeah, to answer a few PMs…I post a variety of workers here to showcase the many different ways of how things can be done and done well. So, for example, the difference between Andrew Eland here and Doug Conn. Two topnotch all-around closeup guys, that also happen to be quite adept at coin magic as well. One is rapid fire, the other a “take your time” sorta guy, but both quite good as you can see, or just ask anybody that really knows this stuff. Both have been all over the streets everywhere and honed their craft from doing the real work out there. And often times what they do is not that difficult but more so the basics just done very well and in creative ways. I like these kinds of guys because after a couple/few coin tricks, it pays to be able to do something else, and not hold your audience because they are polite, but because they are truly energized and amazed by the magic you can do with any & everything. Smile

I also post some of these guys because you might not have heard much about them if at all, and I want you to also see what they can do with the coins we love. Not to mention, there’s an awful lot to be learned from them in the same ways we might learn a thing or two from some more established others. Smile

Sad to say here that Café member, Ray Haining has passed. Smile

I just recently spoke with him and he was prepared for the challenges ahead. But we did not spend a lot of time speaking of it, instead we spoke of the things that perked him up and made him immensely happy, like magic, politics and literature. He was quite vocal about a lot of things, on top of being a crackerjack editor, of which he spent some time doing professionally in his life, along with music coming out of Long Island, NY.

Not only did we have relative paths in magic, but he was also a City boy, and spent a lot of time in the magic shops coming up, especially Tannen’s. I did too, so there was a lot for us to friend on, remember, and talk about. He loved all sorts of magic and read profusely through all the great books on the art, with a keen interest in cards and then later, coin magic.

Our paths happily crossed here on the forum years ago when he first PM’d me about The Liwag Subtlety, him in Arkansas and me in NJ. And I’m so glad he did, as it began a friendship that will last always. He was quite an interesting fellow and a really good hearted guy, Soft spoken but could roar when necessary as to any debate, or in defense of right & wrong on this & that. I will miss our good talks and appreciations for each other’s opinions from our different perspectives on a lot of things. But more importantly I will miss the good and generous nature that made up the greatest magic of the man.

Thanks for everything and RIP my friend.

I'm sorry to hear of his passing. He used to contribute a great deal on this forum, and although we didn't always agree, he was passionate about coin magic and stood by his beliefs.

It’s nice to look back at where you been. I can remember a lot of good things and good people along my way. This young man was one of them. I can remember back when it was just he and his mum. Smile

Young Lloyd had a real interest in coin magic and my work many years back and we became fast friends here, but right from the beginning I could see that he was a tremendous thinker. Long story short, he has went on to be quite a well respected magic creator & magician, and has marketed many wonderful closeup effects all over the world. His work is always amongst the best of the year and he has won much praise from the big, small & all of the magic fraternity. I am very proud of him, still a wonderful young man. Smile

Here he is showing a simple but nice little coin effect, that you can do too, sorta like I once showed him, he now shows you. Smile
