I posted this because it gives a good impression (and I did not like the music), but if you want the routine:

Thanks Marcel. Smile

When I was kid growing up in magic, whenever I went to Tannen’s Magic Shop downtown NYC, there would be coin tricks that used other elements, like a wallet, a cup, a bottle, and even mirrors. All these were always amazing to watch demonstrated at the counter. At that time, I truly enjoyed them more than reading through books and trying to figure out handlings which usually necessitated some sort of SOH, which I was only slowly developing at that time. Anyway, you find as you go that the mixture of both can many times heighten the amazement to the impossible. You don’t see this kind of coin magic much anymore, but to me it is as elegant a display and presentation as you might see here…

Indeed a very nice idea. I like the routine but "The Moon" is 45 bucks + shipping. You need a soft surface and it's a little bulky. So I haven't bought it. Maybe I see it second hand one day.
I find this a clever idea, he should have made a routine out of it:

I wish I understood him, but here is a great one with a cup:

Of course, but Mario is a lot about presentation, my guess is he has a nice storytelling behind.

Agreed! I have seen him deliver a lot of presentations where he says little of anything, but you know exactly what’s happening behind his every move and always well-placed smiles of acknowledgement. He is a wonderful worker, so clever and with chops off the charts. Smile

I posted this on another string and got quite a few PMs as to it…Thank you. A few of them asked about why I used two different size coins in the effect. Good question, as typically in most tricks all the coins are usually the same size. Well, a couple of things…I think it helps you to stay in tune with larger or smaller size coins, it keeps the feel of both immediately identifiable to your hands. Also, it brings about a further bit of interest as to the effect. It’s one thing to handle a few half dollars, but it is a bit trickier to mix in a dollar size coin. They are not as easy to hide, which is why most magi’s use half dollars. So using both helps to keep you practiced with both sizes all at once. Plus, it brings a nice POP! to the trick, as to the larger size, it sorta comes out of nowhere and is an unexpected surprise. I like to show it especially in a few of my One Coin Routines, like SPeL’, from my Double Trouble offering. But I first used the idea as I progressed with the MB Transpo, from there to ReVisiTed, to doing it with an impossible finale using the Ringa Dinga. Smile Anyway, here you can see some of the nice play between the different size coins I continued to build upon…

Glad you like it Riz, got lots of comments about it. I can still remember when I sat in my office and taped myself doing it. A piece of gold I found along my journey…one for the ages. Smile

And less we forget, before anyone else started doing this move this good, nobody did it any believably better than this guy. From out of nowhere, with his creativity with one move, he put himself in the mix amongst the very best out there…Such utter perfection never gets old…

So good and even after many years of seeing him up close, from a foot away live, I can never forget the talent he had and so casual!

If looking at earth-shaking effects, I would love to see R. Paul Wilson's "Knock Em Dead" video featuring his famous "Crowded Coins/Scottish Fly" routine.
Just reading the written version from 1994 could change the thinking of all coin-workers as he focuses on the need for "making things relevant" over just skill demonstrations.

Does anyone have a copy they might share here?

"Sleights should solve problems in an effect, not create them. These days it seems to me that many people actually think it adds to an effect when more coins are used, the coins are signed, or the routine becomes a catalogue of poorly executed, badly conceived sleights. Magicians want to see moves. Lay people want to see effects." R. Paul Wilson

Did he put out a Knock em Dead book? I have not seen it anywhere.

I have never heard on one, but I think his "Crowded Coins" has most of the material.

I just thought folks might like to see the video

It is a good routine - I have it on Vanishing Inc but it is no longer listed for sale or available for preview. However, a slightly older version here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IiiQC_4cByY

I know his “Crowded Coins” from his DVD.
This version is an update, he has further developed the routine and changed it.

I hope viewers caught a very significant series of sleights in s beginning 'production' phase.

He actually produces four coins essential to the later 3fly effect, with only three visible at any given time - thus no later Steal is necessary
This "concealed in plain sight" approach can be applied to many other effects.

Hiya Andre old friend, and thanks for the kind words here… Smile

And funs, as you know, I too have played with this effect for some time, went though several iterations of it, adding this, taking out that. I finally came to my preferred version in my more streamlined, “FlySki” take on it. But before I got there, I was doing this and having a lot of fun with it. Smile Notice the more open shows of my hands and the deceptive casualness of the overall presentation. Add on the unique way I end the effect, and it really sells the magic of it all. *Oh, and not for nothing, but you’re watching the greater power of Liwag Subtlety. Smile
