Having a card appear in an impossible location is a staple in magic. The problem that every magician struggles with, is if the object is signed then the location can't be "impossible." But if the location is truly impossible, then the object can't be signed. Now there's a solution-Bolted!
Bolted allows you to take a randomly signed card, make it disappear, and with no hesitation pull out a locked case with that very same signed card inside. There are many different way's to reveal Bolted, including from a pouch, a tuck case, and even your back pocket. No forcing No duplicates Use it with business cards and predictions Includes a sleight-free handling for absolute beginners Bolted contains multiple routines geared towards every skill level. Whether you're a complete beginner or seasoned professional, perform the routine that works best for you. This is the perfect way to finish any signed card routine, and the best part? You can hand it out immediately afterward, so there is no doubt their signed card is Bolted inside. Shatters the limits of what's possible and leave your spectator's with a miracle that they can't explain, with Jared Manley's Bolted. How do you explain the fact that the card has no holes in it?

Good find pegasus. I remembered seeing this many moons ago but didn’t think it was that long ago! I was interested in it at the time but then it fell off the planet. The visual certainly looks nice but I agree that the weakness is obviously that you/the spectator can’t unbolt the glass and remove the card. I liked the Joker presentation but agree that it would be much stronger if the joker had two holes in it when the cards transpose. I’m sure there’s a way to routine it to make that happen or at least to justify why they can’t unbolt the card, but I’m too lazy.

But I agree it would also make sense to unscrew the bolts and remove the spectator's card. This is one of those things that's totally awesome eye candy at first, but then doesn't make a lot of sense in the end. |

I agree completely with your conclusion. Hard to beat the plain old card to wallet from a practicality and cleanliness standpoint. I also not from the other thread on this that when it was available, people on the Café were selling theirs at a discount.

I think this looks absolutely fantastic. But is completely spoiled by the fact that the spectator can't remove the bolts and remove their signed card. Now THAT would be impossible.

Doing tricks can be easy, being an entertainer is much harder.

I am a bit confused about what the trick is trying to achieve. so the signed card is in the gimmick. what to do after? no way I'm giving out the gimmick as a gift.

In the trailer, your card is a joker you claim was signed by Jack Nicholson (The Joker), which doesn't make a lot of sense to me because it's obviously not true. You can also use business cards, which makes sense to trade but doesn't make sense for you to keep in a bolted case that obscures part of the spectator's contact info. |

Too many holes... No pun intended. The only thing I want my spectators to be asking themselves what just happened, and not why doesn't the transposed card have any holes in it, and then coming to the obvious conclusion. I doubt this will fool an audience (maybe a selective few). To perfect this effect the gimmick would need to act as a punch (too to do so requiring machining and two custom dies) making it entirely possible for the bolt be removed and the card handed out. The bottom piece of plexiglass designed properly could provide cover for the tell (e.g. a thin white nylon spacer on both panes) - Not rocket science and totally feasible. The joker transposition should be done in such a way that the holes are retained. This effect needs more work to truly impress. It relies on way to much investment in the performance (as is) since how the trick is done appears to be so obvious. I normally do not like to comment on effects I do not hold in my hand, and I could be wrong about this, but I don't think so. Even if I held this in my hands, I do not believe I would have a differing assessment. To conclude the ask is. Is the payoff of effect worth the cost of doing it right? It would bring the price up significantly. Also the reason for the Joker not having holes, is there is no effective way go make the holes with what comes with the effect. So either refill card stock is needed or a punch is required to add this feature to the routine. That too could be resolved with the custom die concept. The gimmick could also be used as a prep tool. I do not believe I have given away an secrets as to how the effect as marketed is done. This is my application as to how I would design something like this.

It looks good. Agreed with others that it's too bad that spectator cannot remove the bolts and remove their card.

If you want to hand out the card, you’re “screwed.”

Can spectator handle the gimmick? In the trailer, it looks like the girl touched the bolts.
