Hey guys & gals,

I got my new card artistry and flourish site up. There are photos and videos of card tricks and flourishes. More videos are on the way.

http://www.theCardist.com

Please let me know what you think and if you have any advice on how to improve it. Thank you very much.

Cool looking stuff on the site. I noticed you sell instructions on how to do some of it. Are they only instructions for stuff you came up with? If not, in the long run people will get upset with you if you sell what others have created.

Hey Lincoln,

As far as the productions go, they are original. Although, the one card production was discussed in the cards section, as well as the card flourish forum, and a few people said they did something similar, but no one could say if it was in print somewhere.

Even Lonnie Dillan mentioned to me that he had not seen anything like it, and he's fairly well versed in cards and card productions, and I respect his vast card knowledge.

The paintbrush color change handling, I will admit, gets into a gray-er area. I've been told that it's a variation on Bob Nelson's Face up Startler; from the instructions on the Bill Malone DVD, though it utilizes a DL, there is a difference in the presentation and misdirection of the change.

The way I do it, it uses an audible "flick" and visual "flick" to cover the change, allowing the change to happen with less cover. The sound from the "flicking" and the "flicking" itself are not used in the original handling, and the original requires the hands to come closer together.

I've tried to look for contact information about Bob Nelson, and I'm not sure if he's even still alive. If anyone has any contact information, I would appreciate the opportunity to discuss the matter with him, if possible.

I also forgot to mention that in my handling of it, the left thumb is not used, nor is it needed as in the Face-Up Startler.

There is another discrepancy while researching the origins of the move. Bill Malone credits Marlo on his videos, while I had been informed that it was Bob Nelson's.

It's still selling other people's moves even if you moved your thumb a little. lol
The production has been done many times as discussed before. This is regergitating other people's moves and trying to make a buck. lol No more, no less.

This is interesting how you rip on KC for 1 move that is similar to another, but your favorite company superhandz (who you are affiliated with I assume, from your endless promotion of there products) teamed up with the biggest magic theives ever, ellusionist.
Easy to do magic card tricks. You'll find a store full of street magic, levitation effects, and magic card tricks for.

I agree with all of you, KC is just a kid trying to make a quick buck (lol) off of some mediocre moves. Did you see the background? Filmed in the kitchen. LOL But even worse is that he stole music. That is illegal using other people's music for a product you sell. Just so you know KC.

Thank you Cardjinx for informing me about the legality of using music in stuff I sell.

I'll admit that there is some music used in the performance videos. However, the performance videos are not for sale and a free for downloading. However, I am in the process of ridding the music from the FREE downloadable videos as time permits.

To you really talented card men, these moves may be mediocre. Though, Jerry "the Flourishman" Cestkowski, said that the 4 Ace Production was in his top 5 productions after I sent him it. So at least 1 card good thought that one of the mediocre moves was at least decent; it's possible that he could've just been trying to be nice.

Prospero,

I am in the process of trying to convert the videos to either quicktime or mpeg. Windows Movie Maker currently only exports to WMV and DV-AVI, unfortunately, DV-AVI files are really huge.

Hey KC. I see a lot of people ripping your work. I just wanted to say congraulations. It doesn't matter to me where you made the video, it's the fact they your making a living and doing a very good job of it. Well...congrats and keep up the good work.

Hey Magicianguy4life,

Thank you for your kind words and support, but just to clarify something, I am not making a living from magic.

I charge a small fee for some of the instructional videos, but that is to cover website fees. People would e-mail me wanting to learn some of the stuff from the performance vids.

Like I mentioned earlier, I don't make a living from magic or anything magic related. I just have a hobby of magic and video making, and I recently just started web designing. I just graduated college and I'm trying to get into graduate school.

I know it may not be my BEST work; it's just some of the stuff that I do with cards. I don't mind the (constructive) criticism, but I realize it's easier to tear down than to help someone reach their potential.
