Paddle Magic (with gimmicks) by Keith Fields is a DVD with several routines to get started.
Turbo Stick by Richard Sanders is one of the more popular recent paddles tricks released Baffling Blocks (Gimmick and Online Inst...... Leclerc is a cool paddle trick using Legos that is more suitable for children. Money Paddle by Daytona Magic, Inc. is a paddle trick version with, well... money.

I'd start with the classic Dotty Spots (aka Spot Paddles). It should be very cheap and is a guaranteed eye-popper. Here's my version:

I love the Turbo Stick now but I will never forget my 1st paddle. It was wooden with a foil mirror on one side. It held a dollar bill folded up over the mirror and 3 dimes held with rubberbands on the other. There was a whole process but at the end...It was all done with mirrors. Similar (if not the same) as Money paddle.
Just to add a couple other good paddles that have come along. I liked (but never bought) Pizza Paddle & I did buy Chad Long's "Flash" which uses stick flash drives.

I have a love Chad Longs Flash, but it is discontinued and no longer available, afaik, so I didn't want to get anyone's hopes up. Great suggestion though!

Excellent suggestions by everyone who has responded! When I had magicians perform at my restaurant, I was always thankful for those who didn't focus 90% of their act on card magic. Audiences love chop cups, dice effects and sponge balls. However, a good paddle routine always got GREAT reactions. Those that stick out have been mentioned...Turbo Stick, Money Paddle, and Flash were effects my patrons would recall long after the magician had performed for them.
Dotty Spots (I have a set made of pewter) is what I carry with me and it also gets head shakes of disbelief!! |

Pre-Pandemic, this is the time of year that the No.2 Pencil is great to perform. I used that one a lot when I table hopped (back in the day).

I forgot to mention - there's a useful chapter in Bruce Elliott's "Classic Secrets of Magic". It includes hand-printing a business card and the complete Dr Sack dice routine.

Ill throw in my love for turbo stick. Also Richard Sanders is a great guy. I use the effect a lot and have had to buy replacements off him. He is always a pleasure to deal with.

Edward Victor's "Bat Trick" is a good place to start and was the forerunner to Jimmy Roger's "I'll Start Again" routine.

Hey guys!
I got Baffling Blocks in the other day and I've had a couple of days to play with this. I got to tell you I love it! It comes with a paddle all set up with the six colors on one side and red on the other. They are removable. Also in the box: 6 Blue and 6 green blocks. Makes it possible to do three different presentations. That is a real plus. I also noticed the paddle is quite heavy. A real breeze to do the move! The paddle is obviously made with a 3D printer. These may be real Lego blocks I don't know. I have two effects now from AmazeKids. This and Pizza Paddle Supreme. They are both winners! Doug |

Not for nothing there Dougie, but you weren't exactly first with the ole baffling blocks suggestion. Coulda sworn someone mentioned that earlier...hmmmm
![]() Seriously though, a bit jealous as I haven't picked up baffling blocks as yet. I bet they are fun. It would probably depress me though, as I'd want to perform it for my students and well, pandemic. Quote: On Mar 1, 2021, Dougini wrote:

My favourite of the paddle tricks is the money paddle. It has so many phases: real coins are doubled (always a compelling theme), a money bill appears, and as a kicker the mirror explanation at the end. I don’t know of any other paddle trick that gets as much mileage using tangible objects.

One of my favorite paddle tricks is the penny paddle, originally sold as Enardoe’s Mystery Paddle. A nickel changes to a penny, then a mini penny, then a dollar sized penny.
