Hi all, received Rainbow Divination from Tony, excellent service btw.
It is a little gem. John was so kind to share his excellent routine about engineer Casey, really nice. After some practice (not yet performed): I find the method clever, not unexpected, but well-thought of. Although I still feel that a self-contained effect would be nicer. Hoping not to give too much away, but 'it' could be in place from the beginning in the corner instead of one of the 'things that are on the box anyway'. Then after the move, you put it back there. Nothing to remove or palm. Of course, that would require some modification, which I will not do, not to ruin the prop. Maybe I'll make another box. Just a thought... Or I just practice more and feel comfortable about hiding 'it'. I read some comments about using an 'open palm' method, which I do not understand, I am afraid. How would that work? |

I was showing the effect to my 10y old son, who's really into magic, and we were wondering how to extend the effect.
What if there were 6 envelopes in the same color as the faces of the wooden log, and in the right coloured envelope you'd find a prediction of a previously chosen card or something else Or John, something to do with Casey and the test, so staying in the same theme, but extending the effect with another prediction, having to do with the chosen colour. John, have you written other routines for e.g. other MW effects that have a 6-fold outcome, or prediction, so those two effects could be elegantly combined? So my question actually is: how to extend/build upon/combine to make it larger than just saying the colour. |

Just wanted to point this out and give you full credit ;-) But great to see that we were thinking along the same lines. Haven't explored it, and I am getting accustomed to the gimmick, so maybe no need anymore. |

No worries, no doubt others had a similar thought.
I generally tend to write presentations that cleanly focus on the individual prop. That generally works best for me and sometimes less is more. I have a few times combined MW props, the combo I like best is Ultimate Mummy Mystery and Monarch Prediction Chest. The Chest is a nice container for the Mummies and provides a nice prophesy at the end. Overall though I like to try and keep the effect as clean as possible to the spectator. Have fun with it, that is the the most important thing and everyone has their own approach which is great. John |
