As I indicated I am a Coin Purist. I do not rely on tools are gimmicks. Now while the effect can for a laymen be virtually identical, though a DBTP. It must be that there is a concealment. At the moment of true astonishment The vanish into nothingness, the only achievable slight involves displaying and empty hand that in comparison to Air feels honestly more able to conceal a coin than the openness a gimmick affords. People understand that there is a thing called sleight of hand. And beautiful effects like Daryl's III fly is among the greats. I perform it myself. I however do not attempt to imitate Daryl's character. Just the sequencing, and the pacing, and in general the pattern throwing in whatever variations to accomplish the same task on a whim. The same effect will rarely if ever be the same from performance to performance. And quiet frankly it will not be. After showing these brilliant sleight of hand routines. The alert audience actually knows the truth. They know that somehow you are using sleight of hand, though they may not be able to fathom the method. Mostly the hands come together and then it vanishes or appears. Beautiful. I encourage the people to be less concerned about how what they are seeing is achieved, but more about what they are seeing. Actually see it, without imagining how it is done, or how it works. So now my prestige shall be a vanish, reproduction from the pocket (Air). Whatever One coin(chip) flourishes I am able to with gimmick then end dramatically with the clean vanish of Air. Reproduction from nowhere, and then my slow moving complete vanish that I have practiced for decades on. Is it pure? No it's clean looking. There are other such beautiful methods that involve tools. Shin Limm's wave coin vanish for instance. No way to achieve that with sleights at that level of beauty. Even the Great David Roth's beautiful clean inexplicable to laymen Shelled Four Coins Across relies on a tool. Is it pure, no but it is cleaner. Than the equally impossible to laymen Winged Silver. Do I really care whether the spectator knows if I am using gimmicks? Most of my routines involve no gimmicks, the ebb and flow of the demonstration can be like I am challenging myself, a discovery of an ability demonstrated to the audience. Takes nothing away from sleights, and ultimately elevates sleights, because it can give you the ability to completely vanish a coin. Show your hands completely empty then reproduce it from nowhere. The ending vanish to clean up done via Sleight of Hand. Purity elevated. I said without a tool you will never fly. But David Copperfield flew. There is just some beauty that cannot be achieved without it. This vanish is not confusing. Now if we want to discuss to perfect... I am game.

I still think it is the Fickle Nickel (Vanishing Nickel) concept by John Cornelius. Maybe combined with black art.

I have personally always mixed in 3 or 4 skilled effects (examinable) with one Gimmicked effect, and so on. The reason for this is to allow the spectators to examine whatever non-gimmicked effect I was doing so often, that by the time I did get to my gimmicked effects, I was the devil to them, there was no reason for them to ever question my abilities or skills! Psychology goes hand and hand with Magic, once you learn how to take over an audience & the minds of others, there is absolutely no reason to worry about using a gimmick. My philosophy has always been...Get skilled in as many non-gimmicked effects first, once you do this, then you can start playing with gimmicks, by the end of your routine, in their eyes, what they have seen is priceless!!! BTW, stop fishing with the black art crap “ArtIn”, just buy the effect if it means that much to you! I just did.

I ordered it . I know for 20 bucks it can’t be much but for the Concept it’s worth it.

'I still think it is the Fickle Nickel (Vanishing Nickel) concept by John Cornelius. Maybe combined with black art." yes it is pretty clear if you look for it. something based on it. I don't claim to understand it all.

I ordered and it should be here by the end of the week. When I saw it, it also reminded me of the fickle nickel.

Good grief - talk about buying a 'pig in a poke'. I know magic retailers will avoid giving away methods but surely it behoves them to make clear the effect that is to be achieved. This reminds me of those 'pop up' auctions in which people are enticed into buying 'mystery' bags of goods without knowing what's inside them. For many, disappointment is inevitable.

First, this uses something a little differently than it was used before. It combines it with something else. But for
real world performances, this would not be too easy to pull off cleanly IMHO. This reminds me of the 70's type of magic that looked good in a dark magic shop, but went in a drawer after you tried it in the real world. But hopefully we can get this and some variations to work in the real world. This is a BIG hope. |

I got mine the other day and I am warning people to avoid this product. As the review on penguin indicates, there is no teaching on how to make the gimmick. The teaching is terrible as there is no verbiage when the trick is demonstrated. And of course, since the special item is invisible, you cannot see how things are hooked up. I am wondering if this is why this is now out of stock. Kudos to penguin if they pulled this poor product. 0 out of 5 stars.

For me, this is a beautifully laid out exploration of doing EXACTLY what you see on the demo. Don't buy a hammer and try to use it as a saw. Yes, it has a great history but this shows a lot of work they have done with this in its current configuration. True, they don't hold your hand on the VERY basic construction but if you can't work that out on your own, I would suggest another hobby.
I'll be playing with this a lot as it inspired a lot of new ideas for me. Some are limited to what they see while others use it as a springboard to greater possibilities.

In the bonus section, Shin showed how he made the coin gimmick, so I'm guessing it's the exact same method. Maybe some of you are very proficient and confident at making gimmicks, but not me. This should have been a $10 downloadable instruction. I swear I will wait for reviews before making a preorder next time! sad part is I've been saying that for years |

But I still think this concept has not been explored to the fullest. I now believe that you could create some twists to this
and do it either a little distance from spectators, on else do it close up in a slightly darker restaurant/bar atmosphere. It is good to have a miracle for the right time and place. |
