This is a new flick that is coming out sometime in the future. I saw the ads last night at the theatre.
Years ago, I had the comic of Alien vs. Predator and loved every bit of it...so lets hope the movie is just as good.

The Dark Horse comics story 'Alien vs Predator' was special. Ending with the heroine being accepted by the predators. Spooky and thrilling at the same time.
I hope the movie captures some of the fun of the original story. The batman alien, and predator crossovers have not been as true to the characters IMHO. The movie could go either way, from great to ... not. Here's hoping it succeeds. After they messed up League of Extraordinary Gentlemen... I have no idea how this is gonna work.

I had very low expectations in regard to the League of Extraordinary Gentlemen movie (they were NEVER going to live up to the comic for me) and, consequently, surprised myself by actually quite enjoying it. It had very little to do with the comic, of course, but that was only to be expected.
Rumour has it that Alan Moore's first glimpse at what they're doing with Hellraiser has caused him to decide that he'll never sell movie rights to his work again. Having seen the publicity stuff, I honestly can't blame him. What, if anything, this'll mean for the supposedly upcoming Watchmen and V For Vendetta flicks remains to be seen. I think the Dark Horse movie crossovers were more interesting as concepts than they were as actual stories. Mostly good ideas, but slightly weak in the execution, in my opinion. Side note: I've recently been approached by a publisher to write a short series of graphic novels based on a big movie license myself. I can't say much about that until things are a little more definite, but so far it's all looking pretty good. Cheers, Cy. |

Dark Horse is right down the street from me. I can take a walk down to the offices. But never have real reason to. They have a very cool display of a lifesize Alien and Preditor from the movies. It looks pretty awesome.

The comic was so incredible, I can't believe that they could ruin a movie version of it like they did. It reminds me of the Conan movies. The first one was brilliant, moving, epic... the second one? Awwww jeeze! What a piece of crap! |

You guys remember the arcade game of Alien vs. Predator?
Man, I spent a lot of money on that game (that was only last week! at a place where they have old arcade games for a nickel). Movies based on Comic Books....well....I have some issues with that. Why can't the producers, directors, writers, etc....just keep it in sync with the comic book? Why do they feel like they have to change so many different things? I thought they did great with X-men (with a few errors of course...but the movie was still good). They did ok with Spiderman (a few errors....and Gwen Stacy is NO WHERE TO BE SEEN!), Hellboy was a good movie, and I enjoyed it (but, again, it had it's errors)....I can keep going... Now, I am just praying they produce a Fantastic Four.

Astinus,
They DID make a FF movie. It was so bad the producers would not release it. The only way someone can sit throught this torture that is usually reserved for the deepest, darkest, and most horrible level of hell is to find a showing at a convention, or purchase a bootleg. If you find a showing at a con, do not go looking for anyone to harm after you decide to leave the viewing because you asked for it just by going in.

I saw the FF movie, bootleged VHS. It was by far the most god-awful thing I have ever seen. Ugh.

Really. I thought it was worse than that. I walked out after wasting an hour of my life that I will, when I am clutching painfully to life in my last moments, dearly want back. That is because whatever pain I experience then is not as bad as that one hour was.

If any of you have seen a 'showreel preview' of batman vs alien vs preditor. This is a STUDENT project by a london film college. It may have been copied and touted as an actual preview.
Look out for a film called 'HellBoy'. Looks like a nice and bright comic book type film. The rushes I've seen are great!!!

That is disappointing about the Fantasic Four flick. I guess I will just stick with the comics.
Thanks for the laughs though!

Astinus, don't give up hope just yet. Wait until 2005. If nothing else, this has to be an improvement on the previous effort:

Dam skippy!! Hellboy has been the best comic film so far this year. I look forward to Spider-Man 2 and Alien vs Predator. Of course I also looked forward to The Punisher and Garfield and both fell short of the host material.

I really liked Hellboy. One of the better comic flicks I have seen. About 100 times better than the Hulk.
