Hi all, does anyone know of a good memorised deck app one that I can use to train myself to use with the Martin Joyal stack?

I use MemDeck Pro on Android.
It's free , no advertisements and does what I need it to do. It comes with some pre-programmed stacks, but you can easily put in, card by card, any memorised order you wish Mark |

For iOS, Stacks Trainer by Vincent Launay has the Joyal stack built in. Also works on Apple Watch, which is handy.
I use "The Ultimate Stack Trainer" by Cube; you edit the stack manually but it takes maybe 5 minutes to set it up and then you're done. There are quite a few apps out there but it's worth checking out both Tamariz and Aronson's advice on memorisation. Woody Aragon has some good advice on memorization in his stack book, "Memorandum". Just using an app may not work for you. I like using actual cards with the number written on the back in sharpie; you can break it up into groups and used paced repetition to drive it home. |

I have tried to download stacks trainer but for some odd reason hasn't downloaded, does Vincent need to approve it first or something?

I had to keep up with every new Android Version and it was not fun. 2. I was getting some nasty emails by crazy people who left non-sensical comments. One guy gave a 1 star rating with the comment: “We don’t need app to learn a memorized deck”. Why?! I decided that I did not want to have to deal with that when I was providing a free app with no ads. Best, Claudio |

Hope that you revisit it but understand if you don’t. Take care and Merry Christmas!! -Robert |

Hello,
I used Stack Master by Crompton Studios to help me with Memorandum. I used it along with a deck of cards marked up with sharpie on the backs too. The app is great when you've got a bit of time to kill... I used it on my commute to work, but I think having an actual deck in your hands is best. The app comes with various 'games' built in to help get it into your long-term memory. Once I had the order memorised, I took my deck and shuffled it, and went through it again, first calling out the numbers, then the cards. Then I shuffled it face-up / face-down, and called out either the card or number. I would organise it into NDO just based on the numbers, pull out the suits / court cards / aces as well... you can come up with lots of different ways to recall the cards once you've got the basics down. |

Memdeck Pro is the only memdeck app I've owned. Still works great.

Stackview. But I do not know if it is available on mobiles (think not). Great program. Unbelievable website associated. Wonderful work of love by Nick Pudar.

I’ve been looking for years for a fully customizable app to drill my memorized deck. I’ve gone far enough drilling by seeing the card or seeing the stack number. I need to drill on hearing the spoken card or number. Those are my real-world working conditions.
Nothing I’ve found has all the features I want; Works on laptop. Text to speech audio. Card names or numbers. Adjustable time delay between cards. Shuffle/randomizer. Free would be nice. I’ve checked out a lot of apps, but none meet my needs. I finally just used a word shuffler to mix a deck several different times then used a speech to text app to read it aloud. Because I couldn't put time delays between the cards I'd have to sit with my finger on the pause/play button but it did the job. Any first-hand information on such an app would be appreciated! |

Thanks Francois. I only want to run it with Windows on my laptop. I'm sure I've looked at Memdeck Pro before. I see: "Requirements: Android 4.0.3+"

Most Android apps can run on windows via software. I have installed (free) Bluestack v.4 (B4) on my laptop and I can install apps directly from Play Store and run them. Here's the link to Bluestack. There are other Windows free apps that can run Android apps on a computer, but I've found Bluestack fast and reliable.
MemdeckPro on Desktop through B4.

I have everything installed and have my stack in. I'm having trouble exporting. "...select the stack you want to export by tapping the spinner." I'm not seeing the spinner. I'm sure I'm missing something.
