Crashfreze, that was directed to general magic population that lives on this site. I live in Hollywood, a block away from the Magic Caste, I see the best of the best on a daily basis... and guess what? I can count on less than one hand the amount of times that David has become part of a discussion. The guys I know are more interested in coming up with original routines, original methods and studying from the past masters than sitting around and wondering why someone made it and they didn't.
I see truly gifted young magicians that are also not interested in discussing how David or Derren did what he did in his last special... they are more interested on how they should streamline THEIR routine or why a certain sleight isn't working the way it should or is the character they created for themselves completely suited to what they are doing. Those are questions that will raise them amongst the ranks. I can easily see these guys getting to a level that others will then try to copy. My best friend, Shoot Ogawa, I believe has never seen a David Blaine special completely and is not interested. He has only read the Tarbell course and still goes back to it. And yet he is considered some new genius with all these great new inventive ideas... but his only source has been that course. He doesn't seek the latest and the greatest to do what he is doing. If I ruffle a few feathers by saying these things, then I apologize, but it is the truth. Once again, not direct to you Crashfreze, just in general, go ahead and continue to wonder how David does it, go ahead and try to find the secrets behind Derren, go ahead and jump on the latest bandwagon of magic... I'm a mentalist, I'll make a prediction... if you follow that way of thinking you'll never acheive the greatest you are trying to attain. Be yourself and don't worry about what others are doing. Find your own buried treasures in magic and let others copy what you have done. I've said enough and I'm sure some will fall on deaf ears, for those that realized what I've said then I'll meet you at some late night sessions at the Castle. Greg

First off, I believe that this is in the wrong section...there is no reason for it to be in secret sessions, "Magic Names in the Media" is a much more applicable section for this to be included in. Second, why did you feel the need to post [more or less] the same post here as you did in the street magic section? Third, never make overgeneralizations they are never true. Not all of us who dislike Blaine dislike him for the same reason. There are always multiple answers to the same question. As magicians I think we should all understand that. My personal vote is for this topic to be locked...it serves no purpose other than to aggrivate. I am not saying that that was your purpose though, Crashfreze.
