Earl Edwards IBM Ring 103 has had a library since its beginning in the 1950's. It has grown considerably lately with books, magazines and instructional videos donated by the families of three members who passed away in the last three years.
Finding a current Ring member who has the space to house the library has become a problem. No one seems to have the space for storing it. So I'm looking for suggestions--in or out of the box--on ways to handle the collection. Some of the recent donations duplicate books, videos etc that are already in the library, so I figure we can maybe have an auction or a flea market to sell the duplicates. As noted above, we have already held two auctions of the collection of books, tricks etc of members who have passed away. The pandemic has however forced us to put a hold on auctions and flea markets. I have also suggested selling duplicates to a brick-and-mortar magic shop that sells used magic. Posting items on eBay is another option. Also, how might we handle legitimately purchased pdfs, mpeg videos etc that were purchased by the deceased members? I did create a Private Ring facebook page that has a "Files" section where I have archived and will continue to archive a few files (like a pdf of my lecture notes, the Ring constitution and pdfs of our monthly newsletter). With one or two exceptions, our Ring is composed primarily of Order of Merlin members, so I expect that as other members shuffle off their mortal coils that the problem of donations from families will become even more complicated. Thanks for any suggestions. ----- Amado "Sonny" Narvaez

To be honest, I'm not getting any younger myself. When I went in for my heart bypass back in 2007, I told my family that if I died on the operating table, to contact Denny Haney in Maryland about my collection. Denny knew the quality of my collection very well and since he was a good friend of mine I felt he would have made my family a decent offer for my collection of tricks and books. Unfortunately, Denny is no longer with us.
Knowing that my own collection will someday be up for grabs, I am trying to put together a pdf catalog of my magic and books with suggested prices based on what I have seen them go for in eBay, Potter and Potter, etc. ----- Sonny

Maybe a local public or university library can house and care for them. While the public may have access there really isn’t any secret that isn’t already on YouTube or the web. At least magicians would be able to check them out.

If you have no other reasonable options, maybe a climate controlled storage facility would work. Ring members could given the combination to have ready access to it.
